The person mentioned below, Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Mae Swain Jones, married Thomas Jefferson Jones in Rutherford County, TN. I have this marriage document. After Betty died between 1893-1897 Thomas married Dovie W. Nokes from Wilson Co., TN between 1895 - 1899. Does anyone have access to check on a marriage document for this couple? I have found several references to a Taylor Cemetery where some of the descendants of Caleb Taylor are buried. I suspect this cemetery would be most likely in the old 1st District of Wilson County. Can anyone tell me where this cemetery is located? I cannot find it listed on the Wilson County site or the Wilson County Depot site. Thanks Ed Hailey
I am looking for someone who has access to the 1850 Wilson Co. TN. census. I am looking for George (G.W.) Gary in the 1850 Wilson Co. TN. census. I first found him in the 1860 Wilson Co. TN. census in Cainsville, TN. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Robert L. Miles [email protected]

Those looking for records in this period might find some records in Sumner Co. since that is the County Wilson Co. was taken from. If people where use to going to Gallatin for marriages etc. they may have gone there after Wilson Co. was established. I am sure a few places in NW Wilson Co. where closer to Gallatin than Lebanon. I have one family that I find records in both Counties up until 1880. Pam Vick

She is now living in Sumner Co. and has just conned our learning disabled son who is only in his 20's out of tens of thousands of dollars. She must have gone to school in Wilson Co. and lived there up to this past year. As a favor to a fellow genealogist, please help us to find out exactly who this person is! Classification: Lookup Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/UiB.2ACI/1417 Message Board Post: I have numerous early record links to Wilson County settlers from 1799 to the 1880s. Partlow has done an excellent job on publishing most of the early extant records of Wilson County. However, it quickly becomes evident that many of the early records are missing altogether, for whatever reason. For instance: 1. Only four marriage bonds survived for the period 1799 to 1804 and only two survived from 1805 2. No criminal court minutes exist until 1803 (and only one entry in 1803 and zero in 1804). 3. Only one surviving will was probated for 1799 to 1802 inclusive. 4. Only one inventory or estate sale was recorded prior to 1802. 5. Guardian records prior to 1805 are non-existent and only three total were recorded between 1805 and 1807. Records after 1807 gradually increase in number, but still do not appear to be entirely complete (particularly until the 1830s to 1850s). No one seems to know what happened to the missing records for certain. As a result, I have accumulated files over the years of records in other counties and states that are linked to early Wilson County settlers, such as: 11 October, 1817: On this date, Henry Chandler Sr. of Wilson County and State of Tennessee appointed Matthew Simms of Halifax County, Virginia as his power of attorney to dispose of property interests in Charlotte County, Virginia and Halifax County, Virginia, his former dwelling place. Others signed the same power of attorney document, as follows: 1. John W. Nichols of Wilson County, TN and Patsey Nichols his wife, daughter of Henry Chandler, Sr. 2. William Chandler, John Chandler, Henry Chandler Jr. and Robert Chandler, all of Wilson County. 3. Patrick Anderson of Wilson County, TN and Fanny Anderson his wife, daughter of Henry Chandler, Sr. 4. Elizabeth Chandler and Achilles Chandler, both of Wilson County in the State of Tennessee. (I found this particular record on page 164 of Charlotte County, Virginia Deed Book 14). If you would like me to see if a particular name is mentioned anywhere in my Wilson County record/link files, please contact me in writing at: C. Raymond P. O. Box 2120 Old Town Office Temecula, CA 92593-2120 Please include the name of your ancestor and specify “Wilson County,” as I maintain files on a number of different counties in different states. I’ll get back to you as soon as I can (one way or the other). Thanks.

I love the ebook because you can find what you want easily and then look it up in the book.. My eyes get tired reading from the computer every word but I can find what I want and go to the page. I like the ebook also because I can copy and paste a paragraph and add it to my FTM and that saves a lot of typing. I don't know the man that wrote the book but I sure am glad he did.

Thank you very much for putting it on the Wilson county Board. Last year I published a book entitled The Cainsville Guards, Civil War Experiences of Co. I, 18th TN Infantry. Mr. Huddleston was a member of Co. I., along with another Huddleston. There were 145 men in the company and I tried to put in the genealogical info on their parents, themselves, and their spouses and children, if any (three generations). The book is a compilation of two diaries by George Washington Dillon and William Lewis McKay who were in the company. It goes from the onset until the end of the Civil War. It also has photos of 25 of the men. If you know anyone interested in purchasing a copy, contact Main Street Publishing at www.mspbooks.com or www.mainstreetpublishing.com. Their toll free number is 866-457-7379. The book's price is $15 plus about $4 for shipping/handling. It can also be bought as an ebook for $7.95. I'm not making any money on this book but I shure am having a lot of fun meeting people on the internet and sharing information. Thanks. Lytle Givens
