Hi Phil, In a message dated 98-03-03 20:05:30 EST, you write: << Was there a specific migration from NC to Williamson? >> The HILL family might actually have been in the same "spot" when they lived in NC and then Davidson Co and then Williamson Co........ "The first of the 5 HILL men to Davidson County was GREEN HILL on March 7, 1786, when he received 6 land grants from the state of North Carolina, totaling 3911 acres. Of these grants GREEN received, 2 were for the land that GREEN HILL lived on and became in Williamson County in 1800. One grant was for 640 acres on Little Harpethand one grant for 77 acres on Mill Creek, totaling 717 acres. This is the 717 acre tract that GREEN HILL paid taxes on in Williamson County from 1800-1803, 1808-1813 and was described as on Mill Creek and Little Harpeth." Source: "Early Hill Men in Williamson County, Tennessee Between 1786-1830" by Mrs. Virginia Gooch Watson and published in the Williamson County Historical Society, publication No. 17, Spring 1986. I am descended from a HILL line in Williamson County, but have not attempted research yet. But, thought the above information might help in determining if actually this HILL line migrated from NC or actually was in the lived in the same area as it the state and county boundaries began changing in the latter part of the 1700s and early 1800s. Anyone else have any idea on this? Later, Darlene Anderson
