To be honest, I don't know what type of connections they have. I know they didn't go back to NC and the family of Nicholas ended up meeting him in VA. My g-grandfather was born in March in Boone NC so it sounds like he was born enroute to VA. From VA, I heard my g-grandfather, Richard and probably his brother Aaron went to TN and worked for a man named Carr. They took some horses to Greene County for him and ended up staying. I don't know what part of Tennessee they went to. I have had a tough time finding this family. Plus they were moving around a lot. With the 1890 census destroyed, I also loose them from 1880 to 1890. I found Aaron on a personal property tax list of 1890 in Greene so I am assuming they were there then. I think Gaston stayed in VA and I don't know what happened to the rest. I ordered Nick's and John Dowdy's confed papers, but haven't heard anything yet. I also think the names of the kids are unusual - Gaston, Aaron, Armenia, Lawrence. I did find a Lawrence Dowdy who was in the NC Troops (ordered his papers, too). I am looking for McKee's, Gott's, and Elrod's in Tennessee also. I am also trying to find the Indians (Cherokee). I know it came from my mom's dad's side (and this is the Dowdy, McKee, etc), but haven't found them yet. I sent an email to the person you suggested so between that and those papers (if they ever come) maybe I will know more. I did find a birth record of a Nicholas Dowdy born in about 1827 in TN, but he died in about 1845. -----Original Message----- From: Wjusthill <Wjusthill@aol.com> To: TNWILLIA-L@rootsweb.com <TNWILLIA-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Sunday, April 26, 1998 10:20 AM Subject: Re: [TNWILLIA-L] Dowdy, Graham >Hi, Michelle.
