    3. The HARPERs may be somehow related to the HOUSDENs. At least Sterling C. HARPER was implicated in the murder of Sara HOUSDEN (HOUSEN) I have now discovered, with the most gracious help of the Williamson County Public Library and Archives (bless their hearts) that the HARPERs had another skirmish with the law. >From the miscellaneous records, Williamson County Tennessee, Vol. 5, the following: ASA HARPER JR., ASA HARPER SR. STERLING HARPER and SAMUEL SCOTT charged with attempted murder on JOHN ALLEN 3 January 1840. Now some interesting notes that I, as of yet, have no connections for: A Samuel SCOTT Married a Maria GUINN in 1842. A John ALLEN married a Mary GUINN in 1836. Samuel SCOTT may have been a son of Viney SCOTT that was married to Sterling T. HARPER (in 1836) since she was about 8 years older and census records show that the there were two males and three females in their household that were born between 1820 and 1835. Does anyone have any addition information on this? In addition a dear woman names Louise at the archives sent information that shows that Asa HARPER Sr. was married to Frances (Fanny) RICE (HARPER) in 1805 in Prince Edward County, Virginia. I understand from this information that Frances Rice was the daughter of Samuel RICE and Eleanor _______ RICE. Eleanor was born in Castlebar, Ireland on January 1, 1757, was orphaned, and came to America around 1869. She and Samuel RICE had a large family before Samuel died in 1807. Eleanor RICE moved to Williamson County with a son, Francis RICE in 1813 (Fanny HARPER and Asa HARPER Sr. were in Williamson County before 1809 when their first son was born), and died October 21, 1846. Samuel and Eleanor RICE had the following children (I think). James, Francis, Stephen (Stephen had two children, Mary E.O., and Emily S.), Frances (Fanny HARPER), Sally, Betsey, and Sterling (This Sterling is a RICE). Does anyone know of the RICE family in Williamson County? I must admit that this family has been a lot of fun to research because they always seem to be in so much trouble. I can't wait fto add more details to the HARPER/RICE family story. HARPER family tree Descendants of Asa Harper Sr. Generation No. 1 1. ASA HARPER1 SR. was born 1780 in Virginia.
