Sue Fields: I checked the Williamson County Cemetery Books that I have, and found Charles Dowdy listed in the Old Ezell or Sam Brown Cemetery. There was no date of birth, but date of death was 19 Sep 1800. The location given for the cemetery is 22nd District near Flat Creek. Found the following in "Miscellaneous Records of Williamson County, Volume 6", by Louise Lynch: A deposition by George R. Tucker regarding a James Edward heirs: Malinda Kingston, Nancy Corlett, Sarah Camp, Phoebe Nois, George Dowdy, and Lewis Dowdy are children of William Dowdy, whose wife was a neice of James Edwards. Mrs. Malinda Kingston lives in Bedford County. Mrs. Nancy Corlett and Mrs, Sarah Camp live in Williamson County. Phoebe Nois lives in Davidson County, George and Louis Dowdy live in Cheatham County. This was in 1882. Found the following in "Miscellaneous Records of Williamson County, Volume 5" by Louise Lynch: John Dowdy died in 1845 in Williamson County leaving a will. He left a widow, Rainey Dowdy 1/3 of the tract of land where he was living. John Dowdy left the following children: Polly Johnson, John Dowdy, Amos Dowdy, Garner Dowdy, Samuel Dowdy, Rachel Dowdy, Sarah Dowdy, Frances Wilson and Elizabeth Taylor. He also had a son Micajah Dowdy, who died before his father. Micajah's children were Lewis and David Dowdy. John Dowdy's will is listed in the Tennessee Will Index as: 1845-Will Book 8-pg 282-Williamson County, Tn. Hope this helps. Mary L. Solomon
