My interest in Williamson County is the Sammons family line as follows: Progenitor: NEWIT SAMMONS. Born 1749, probably in Virginia. Married Claramond Lawrence in Greenesville Co., VA 13 Feb 1787. Revolutionary veteran (I have pension papers on him). Moved to Williamson County probably after 1804 and before 1810. Owned land on Nelson's Creek off the Big Hespeth River. Died 1838-1839. Children: 1. RICHARD SAMMONS 2. JOHN SAMMONS (was in Morgan Co. Illinois by 1840) 3. POLLEY SAMMONS, m. Abner HAYS. 4. MARGARET SAMMONS, m. Phillip HODGE/S on 29 April 1819 in Rutherford Co. 5. EDMUND SAMMONS, b. circa 1801 in VA, m. Ann Mariah HAYS, Oct 1826/7, in Williamson Co., d. 1857 in Schuyler Co. MO. Was in Morgan Co. Illinois by 1831, in Hancock Co., Illinois by 1847, and in Schuyler Co., MO by 1855. (I have complete information on his descendants) 6. WATSON SAMMONS, b. circa 1801 in VA, m. Lacy Dunn, 21 October 1830, in Rutherford Co, TN. He appears to have been in Chalk Bluff Twp, Greene Co., Arkansas in 1870 living with his daughter, Nancy Polsgrove, "ill and unable to work." 7. GEORGE SAMMONS, b. 5 Jul 1803, m. Sarah BELL, 23 October 1828, in Morgan Co., Illinois, d. 27 October 1873 in Schuyler Co., Missouri. (I have some information on his line). 8. ABNER SAMMONS, b. circa 1804 in VA. Appears also to have been living in Chalk Bluff Twp, Greene Co., Arkansas in 1870.) I am interested in any information/details on any of the family members, particularly on the children other than Edmund and George. I would also like to get any information on the HAYS family if available as Edmund married Ann Mariah HAYS and Polley married one Abner HAYS, possibly a brother of Ann Mariah. Bill Stewart
