    3. MTGS is making a great effort to invite interested folks in all forty counties of our Middle Tennessee area to its regular bi-monthly meetings. We hope you will come to our meetings; find them informative and fun. The Middle Tennessee Genealogical Society will hold its next meeting Saturday, March 20, at the Edmondson Pike Branch of the Nashville Public Library, 5501 Edmondson Pike, Nashville, TN at 1 p.m. Julia Otey Lee (MA Education, Tennessee State; MA, Vanderbilt) is a teacher in the Nashville-Metropolitan School System, a member of the Board of Directors, Middle Tennessee Genealogical Society and the Committee on Slavery and Multicultural Education of Carnton Plantation, Franklin. She has shared her experiences in African-American genealogical research at past MTGS seminars and bi-monthly meetings. Her presentation "Blacks in Blue and Gray" will outline the role of Middle Tennessee African-Americans in Civil War military service, both Union and Confederate, as developed through research in pension records, compiled military service records, Freedmen's Bureau records and regimental histories. Refreshments will be served after the meeting. Visit our webite http://www.mtgs.org for more information about our meetings. Hope to see you there, Katheryne Cowan MTGS Webmaster
