Liberty is located in northeast Williamson County between Brentwood and Nolensville. Liberty itself grew up around the Liberty Methodist Church. One of the earliest trustees of the Liberty Church was John Fly. He later moved to Maury County and settled what is know as Fly Station However, when he died he was buried in Williamson County on Ragsdale Road. The Liberty school was opened in 1900 on land donated by W. L. and Cynthia Fly. There are also many of the Fly family buried in the Nolensville cemetery.
