Hi Brenda...Sorry I don't have access to the 1870 census, so I can't help there, but I found the following listed in the Williamson Co., Early Obituaries, and I thought it was very interesting. It may not be your Bruce connection, but is a Bruce nevertheless.....God bless you and yours, Donna Hayes King Joseph Bruce, died 8 July 1852 at the poor establishmehnt in Williamson County. He was said to be 108 years old. He was taken to the poor house after the great sleet last winter. He was going through the courtry as a sort of peddlar. He said he was from Canada where he had several children and owned a tract of land. (The Weekly Review 7-23-1852)
