Dave, Thanks, that Samuel M. Burdett of Bledsoe Co., TN , is Samuel Marion, while mine is Samuel Monroe. Real easy to get confused. I worked that Bledsoe census a few days ago, and thought for a bit I had found my man. I'm thinking that for whatever reason, my uncle Samuel was calling himself "John". I still have thirteen more pages from his Confederate Pension coming from the TN archives, plus I will order his widow's application as well. Your idea of checking neighboring counties is a good idea too. Like maybe Davidson? I'm sure some of you have found people by doing a page by page search, that were not listed on an index of that county. Thanks to you all for your ideas.
