Gayle, There are lots of BURDETTE's (an E added to the end of the name) that were in the Leiper's Fork area of Williamson County. There was an article in the Dec. 21, 1939 issue of The Review Appeal about Ben B. and Anna Waller Burdette celebrating their 54th wedding anniversary. It mentions that Ben is the son of John and Sally Hargrove Burdette. It also mentions that John came from Alabama and served 4 years in the Confederate Army. Ben was born in Williamson County Aug. 17, 1868. It mentions a brother Robert and a sister Rosa. Does this fit into anything you have? Noel, The plot thickens! Goodness I've stirred up a lot. Many of my Burdett's added the extra e on the surname too. I'd sure be interested, from your mention of "John" serving in the Confederacy, what unit he served in, or perhaps where in Alabama he was from. I feel like I am so close to either solving this mystery, or having to rethink my theories. Thanks very to yourself and everyone who has given me some advise or info. I'll keep at it!
