    3. Colleen, This comes from the book: "Historic Williamson County" by Virginia Bowman: "Early Williamson County records show that the land on which this house (Beech Grove) was surveyed April 18, 1780, and was granted by the State of Tennessee to James Robertson, an assignee of John Ring in 1808. James Robinson sold the 274 acre tract to Ephraim Brown that same year. Six years later, Brown sold the tract where the house stands to his son George W. Brown. After John Cartwright bought the place in 1833, the Beechgrove Methodist Church was located on the premises from 1834 until 1849 when it combined with two other churches to form Bethlehem Methodist Church. ...(other owners)... Beech Grove is (today) located on Manley Lane one and one-half miles from Hillsboro Pike."
