Chuck, Thanks for getting back to me so quickly! I have verified that my Samuel Monroe Burdett, did serve with his brothers in the 13th AL. The three of them are present with Co. E on the Alabama Archives website, and the Soldiers & Sailors, plus I've been to two of the brothers' gravesites. I picked up Samuel's Muster Rolls last year, where I discovered a "last entry" in 1864. His Confederate Pension Application is from Williamson Co., Tennessee. My query was not how to confirm his service, but to possibly find a later link for him and his family. As for a nickname, I would have though it would have seen "Sam", "Sammy" or "S.M." ... but instead I found a "John". You might want to reread my query. Thanks very much for your reply.
