Could someone explain to me what a marriage bond is? I have a copy of my gggrandmothers "marriage license/marriage bond." She was married in Williamson County in 1866. The bond shows that $1250.00 was posted prior to marriage. The way I read this is that amount had to be posted to obtain a license? Thanks Joyce Mallare [email protected]
