Cathy- I have not done much research on the Ladd family. The earliest I have traced the Ladd line back is to Joseph H. Ladd, born 1826 in Tennessee. He married Emily C. Wagoner. Julia E. Ladd married Andrew Moore Jarrett Irvin and they lived in Williamson until he left in late 1800's and went to Dickson Co. Sorry I can't be of more help. I am searching for information about Charity EZELL ADKISON, who is said to be the mother of James EZELL. Is anyone else researching these families? Colleen Taylor

I live in Brentwood and occasionally go to the City Cemetery. I will be glad to make pictures of the tombs in Zollicoffer Square unless someone else volunteers to do it. It may take a few days or even weeks. My husband has several family members buried there. Sarah Armistead
Thanks so much Sarah. I appreciate that alot. I have one of Felix Zollicoffers grave but that is the only one. Let me know of any cost incurred in doing this. Hello, I am interested in any info that might be out there about James H. & Virginia Zollicoffer Wilson. I have that he was born in 1828 and died in 1890 (that found in the Brentwood, Tennessee library). He was the son of James Hazard Wilson II who married his cousin Emeline Wilson. James III married Virginia Zollicoffer, daughter of Felix Kirk Zollicoffer and Louisa Pocahontas Gordon, in 1858 at the home of Felix Zollicoffer. James II gave them the plantation Harpeth (now known as Inglehame) as a wedding gift. James and Virginia lived on the plantation in Williamson County for several years but after the war things were hard and moved to Davidson County in about 1873. They are both buried at the Old Nashville City Cemetery in what is called Zollicoffer Square. From census records and an online source I have that James and Virginia had 10 kids, but in 1900 Virginia states that she only had 9 kids. One son is referred to as James H. Wilson Jr. in 1870. Then in 1880 there is a child about a year older than James Jr. would have been that is referred to as Lanny Wilson. I am wondering if Lanny and James Jr. could be the same person. I have the dates from Virginia's tombstone at the Old City Cemetery but not those of James. I was wondering if anyone had been there and might have those dates. Also I would gladly pay someone for photos that they might have of the graves in Zollicoffer Square. Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated. I am not a direct descendant of this family or the Zollicoffer or Wilson families. One of my cousins Anna Lindsey was Virginia Zollicoffer's great-grandmother. I am also a Civil War buff and research the Felix Kirk Zollicoffer family due to that. Information can be left here or I can be contacted by e-mail at rgray7824@charter.net or rleegray@hotmail.com
Mike, You're email bounced back to me but here is what I sent earlier. Thanks, Gayle Mike, Thanks for looking up that info on the Leiper's Fork Cemetery. You're right, the Burdett's did infact at many times, add an extra "e" at the end of their name. Lokks like some of them also were living in Davidson County. I was sure hopeing I could find some info of Burdett's buried there. Would be nice to add a grave photo. He was probably buried as "John" Burdett, since thats' what his death certificate says, instead of his real name Samuel Monroe Burdett. I will keep digging (opps... sorry) though and thanks again. Gayle
For those of you nice people of this list, who had offered a "theory". I have finally solved my "John Burdett" of Williamson County mystery. According to his Confederate Pension Application, his nickname was "John". His actual name was Samuel Monroe Burdett, and he was my grand uncle. I have collected loads of info on "Samuel" for years, but suddenly finding a "John", where it should have been a "Samuel" really threw me. He died Oct. 28, 1929 and is buried in Leiper's Fork Cemetery. His death certificate even states "John." Now I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about that cemetery, is there an inventory, or when it is located in the county. I'm also interested in anyone who might have info on these Burdett's that lived around Leiper's Fork. His first wife was Sarah A. Hargrove. Their children were; John W., Levinia A., Benjamin B., James H., Roland E., Ellis L., Manerva, Snowada (not sure on this spelling) and Rosa H. I belive they also had a son Robert. His second wife was
Hello all, I have this brick wall..I thought I had the FIELDS family all worked out. Samuel P. Fields was born in 1837, was in the Tn. census in 1860 as age 23 married to Caledonia Rachel Sledge. My grandmother told me this also. I can not find out who his parents were. He was in the 1880's with wife Caledonia and his family. I am stuck on who his father and Mother were. Any help will be appreciated. The Samuel Fields farm and the Sledge farm adjoined each other in what is now Brentwood Golf club. Thank you, Billie a great grandma in Ohio, now.
