    2. THEY HAD DIFFERENT NICKNAMES BACK THEN, OLIVIA,OR "OLLIE" HAD A SISTER NAMED "POLLY",NO JOKE...THIS SHOULD MAKE IT EASIER,I'M NOT SURE IF HER REAL NAME COULD HAVE BEEN "MARY" OR "MARGARET" PERHAPS? IT IS HARD TO FIGURE OUT ,BUT MAYBE THAT'LL HELP. THE WHITE FAMILY IS FAIRLY WELL DOCUMENTED AT THE WILLIAMSON CO. ARCHIVES,AT 5 POINTS IN FRANKLIN,TN. SO THE INFO ON SHOULD BE THERE FOR YOUTO OBTAIN. CHUCK

YOU SHOULD ALSO TRY MAURY CO.,AND RUTHERFORD CO., AS WELL AS MARSHALL CO.,AND BEDFORD CO.,AND WILSON COUNTIES,AS THEY SEEMTO HAVE BEEN PLACES THAT MOST OF THE EARLY ANCESTORS LIVED OR SPECULATED IN FERTILE FARM AND TIMBERLAND. 3. I've been reading this WHITE thread with interest. My maternal grandfather, Chester McCracken, was a great-grandson of an Elizabeth White bn ca 1814 TN, died ca 1870 KY who had married in about 1833 a McCracken man bn TN, probably in TN. Her McCracken husband's given name is unknown as he had died shortly before the 1850 census was taken. Elizabeth had four children listed in the 1850 Caldwell County, KY Census, Amanda C., bn TN ca 1834, John L., bn MS ca 1839, Rachel bn TN ca 1843 and Gustavus bn TN ca 1848. I have *never* found a marriage record for an Elizabeth White to a McCracken man anywhere in TN and am now wondering if it might have taken place in Williamson County, TN where there were several McCracken families living in the 1830s. It is interesting to note that when Elizabeth was enumerated in the 1850 Caldwell County Census, she was a recently arrived resident living on Eddy Creek, just off the Cumberland River which passes through Davidson County. Can anyone tell me if Willamson County marriage records as extant and if so, do they include this marriage? Any help would be greatly appreciated. -- Pat Oliver (Willis P. 3. Hello Gayle, I would like to compare notes in more detail with you - I have a number of possible intersections with some of the names in your list: Ferrell, Hargrove, & Meachum (Matthew MacDonald and Matthew Murray - which one is yours?) I know some Hargrove's in Williamson County today - probably descendants - can check with them if needed. Regards, Paul -----Original Message----- From: Gayle Van Horn [mailto:gayleh@brmemc.net] Sent: Tuesday, August 10, 2004 7:04 PM To: TNWILLIA-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [TNWILLIA] Burdett/e & Related County Ties I've spent the last several weeks, entering data on my Burdett/e line that lived in Williamson and Davidson County, Tennessee. I'm hoping now, to find any descendants that would like to exchange info or photos. This Burdett/e line began in Williamson Co., in 1865-1929, with John Burdett. John was his nickname, his given name was Samuel Monroe Burdett, and he was born in Fox Creek, Randolph Co., Alabama 10 March 1843. He settled in Leiper's Fork near Franklin, after the Civil War. He had two wifes, Sarah A. "Sallie" Hargrove and Sarah Howell Stewart. Between the two, he had twelve children. "John", his wifes and several of his children, and descendants are buried in the Leipers Fork/Hillsboro Cemetery. I do know also, that some of his children moved to Nashville, and I'm wondering if there remain any descendants there. He was a Confederate veteran, and served with his two brothers Benjamin and Littleton, in the 13th AL Infantry, Co. E. I have his Muster Rolls, Pension Application, as well as those for his brothers. I also have numerous other documents and information on him I can share. His children by Sarah Hargrove were; John W.; Lavenia J. (m. Tom Furlough); Benjamin B. (m. Anna Waller); James Henry (m. Essie Nicholson); Robert Edward (m. Clemmie Wilson); Ellis L.; Manerva Elizabeth "Lizzie" (m. Charles Ferrell); Snowada; Rosa H. "Rosie" (m. Matthew M. Meachum & Edward Andrews) and Wiley George (m. Dora 'Unknown') His two children from Sarah Howell Stewart (he married her as a widow) were; Price W. and Nola M. Burdett. If any of you are descendants, or might know anyone from any of these surnames, I would appreciate a reply. The more I unravel this family, the more I'm discovering some amazing events. This fall I plan to visit the cemetery to pay my respects to this interesting family. Thanks for your time, Gayle Hennington-Van Horn UDC Macon Co., NC UDC Great Grand Daughters Assoc. 3. I found this in the 1880 census..It has a Mary E. as mother and a Mary L as a daughter....Now, if this Mary E. was widowed and married the Owen gentleman, a child this young would probably use the stepfather's name, and even carry it to her grave...there are other Mary Lou's in the census but they don't have a Mary as a mother....I don't find an L.R. I'm trying to transcribe the Sneed Cemetery on Old Smyrna Rd. in Brentwood, and I've run into a few that are causing problems. There are 4 stones in a row: Mary M. Owen 1841-1917 L. R. Owen 1839-1892 Mary Lou Owen 1879-1880 "daughter of L.R. & M.E. Owen" William N[?] Owen 1886[?]-1893[?] "son of L.R. & M.E. Owen" According to marriage records, L. Robert Owen & Mary M. [Sneed] Williams [widow] married in 1881. I do not know of any connection betweens the Owens and the Sneeds before this marriage (the cemetery is Mary's family). Mary Lou was born 2 years before this marriage, and the stone clearly indicates that her (and William's) parents were L. R. & M. *E*. Owen. Are the dates and/or parents' names on the stones wrong? Or is there some other explanation? Any help would be appreciated! 2. Chuck, You are right, these people know what they are doing and are more than willing to help. I only had about three hours to spend over there, I was hoping to see if there were tax records on my g-great grandmother around 1848 or 1849. I did not know who her husband was (he died in ARK) or her maiden name. I came out with her marriage license, her will and estate records well as her fathers will and estate records. Now a new family line I had never heard of. I will go back again soon because there is another family line I didn't have time to get into. Thanks to all the folks at the archives. I give them "5 STARS" Vernon Compton Chattanooga
