Hi, its been awhile since I've been on this list and after visiting Williamson County last week and seeing how its grown and how beautiful if is, I am hoping someone can help me abit more with my Koen & Jackson families. The Koen and Jackson families came from North Carolina to Williamson County, before 1800. The Koen family owned land in Williamson Co. early on and I'm trying to determine where it was. Lovey probably Lovinia Koen was married to John Jackson in Davidson County in 1801. She was my 4th GGrandmother. It is thought the Koens and Jacksons were Quakers. The name Koen may also be Koon/Coon and Cowan/Cowen. I think Mr. Vance Little told me once there was Koen property near Crockett Road. I don't know if this was the first land they owned in Williamson Co.??? Does anyone know if their was a Koen family Cemetary near Crockett Road?? Thank You Sandra
(my sister got this from a website & sent it to me, so I can't give proper credit) Dear Santa: Don't bring me new dishes, I don't need a new kind of game. Genealogists have peculiar wishes For Christmas I just want a surname. A new washing machine would be great, But it's not the desire of my life. I've just found an ancestor's birth date; What I need now is the name of his wife. My heart doesn't yearn for a ring That would put a real diamond to shame. What I want is a much cheaper thing; Please give me Mary's last name. To see my heart singing with joy, Don't bring me a red leather suitcase, Bring me a genealogist's toy; a surname with dates and a place.
Can someone help me with a death date for John C Newcomb and Martha Newcomb? He was born abt 1841 and she was born abt 1853. They lived in Williamson Co and he was in the Civil war. Thanks, Faye (tomnfaye@hotmail.com) They both died after 1930.

Lloyd DeWitt Bockstruck, a wonderful speaker on genealogy who has written several books and does a newspaper column in Dallas, TX is coming to middle Tennessee to present a program on November 20. He will speak on researching ancestors from Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina and the migration routes. I'm searching for any information on John H. White m. Lavinia McClain abt. 1827 in Williamson Co., TN. Thanks for any help, Donna
Betty, We need to compare notes. I have a Charles Oliver Jones (b~1854) who is my 1st cousin 3x removed). He had a daughter named Susan, b~1878... and a son William, (both in Williamson County). I show Charles married a Fanny Claud on 5/14/1874. Though I have some Holts and Shaws, I have not made a connection there, however several Shaws married Marlins and Hassells, both nearby. The census taker made a mistake in the original page and then it was compounded by the indexer...The original page shows John Shaw as head, and underneath the census taker wrote SU in the place of the surname, then moved over on the line and put Susan.....Then the indexer added to the confusion by putting SU as the surname for the two daughters.... The main reason I think this is my Susan Jones(same age as mine) is the presence of Lendon HOlt in the household....My Susan could have had a nephew named Holt....The original Susan Holt had lots of brothers... I cannot find the family in the 1920 census...Susan Jones was born in 1877, and was still living at home in the 1900 census, so she married late and had children late....She was still living in the 1950's because I went to a family reunion at her farm and I remember being introduced to Mabel and Lydia.... If anyone has any information on the family, I would appreciate hearing from you... Caroline, was their a land grant for Ephraim Givens? Judy
Greer families were also in Shelbyville, Bedford County, TN I have great uncle, Robert Emmet Fay, that married a Catherine Greer, there. Many Greers listed in Marsh's Bedford County Tennessee Wills and Vital Records from Newspapers. Hope this helps somewhat.
I personally have no information on any Greer's. I am forwarding this from another mail list in hope it will help someone else.
