    1. deGRAFFENREID and McLEMORE
    2. James D. Daniel
    3. Hi Williamson County researchers- I could use any info you may have on two families with a Williamson County connection as follows: deGRAFFENREID - I have a fair amount of information about my deGraffenreid line, but I do not have deeper knowledge about who they were, particularly those who ended up in Williamson County. Any suggestions on sources for more info. My great great grandfather was Matthew Fontaine deGraffenreid and his daughter Maragaret Minor deGraffenreid was my great grandmother. McLEMORE - Matthew Fontaine deGRAFFENREID's wife was Margaret Smith MCLEMORE. Her father was Robert MCLEMORE and her mother was Margaret DABNEY. Anyone with connections or info on where I could learn more about these families and Williamson County, please let me know. Thanks, Jim Daniel

    1. my Tennessee roots
    2. My roots in Tennessee are Hunter and Cloud. Joseph & James Hunter and Priscilla Cloud are the names I know. They all lived in Williamson between about 1840 and 1860. I have also found them in White (before that time) and Shelby (after that time) counties. However, the biggest problem I have is figuring out Joseph's birth year. According to the 1850 census index he was 68 years old, then in the 1860 census index he was 45 years old. When I look at a census I figure the age to be off by about 3 years. But, I never thought I would see differences like that. He gets younger and his wife ages at the double the normal rate (she went from 24 to 40). Wouldn't we love to have a gene that makes you get younger. If anyone out there has access to the actual census and can find what it says I would greatly appreciate it and send really good vibes your way. Thanks. Nan

    3. Larry. I am Dwight's wife!! We appreciated all the papers you sent. Not having worked on much of his father's family, I was really at a loss to understand much of it and of course he has done very little genealogy. I have always had a fear in writing down names that someone else sends me after a horrible mess I created for myself 15 years ago. I followed some line off into oblivion on the work of a DAR lineage only to learn several years later it was entirely wrong. When we went to Williamson Co in Sept. we were unable to make any solid connection to Lewis Whitbey. We were on on way home and did not spend more than a couple of hours at the post office so needless to say we probably missed quite a bit. Since that time I have been working non-stop on his JOYCE and HOLLEY lines. I was unaware that the SCOTTS moved with the WHITBEYS. Did Lewis WHITBY leave a will in Yell County? Sorry that I was not a new contact for you, but I assure you that I will gladly work with you to find out about the SCOTTS. Elusive lines are the ones I like the very most! Hope to hear from you soon. 2. Linda & Dwight: Thanks for your reply... I thought it may have been you on the original Email, but your e-mail address was different from the one I had on file, so I thought, well, maybe is a new lead...anyway....On my trip to Franklin recently, I found a whole bunch of stuff on Lewis Whitby's family as well as the link to John & Polly Scott. I copied a whole bunch of files from the "open records" file from the courthhouse records. Seems as though the Whitby family were somewhat of a "renegade" sort of folks...Lewis and his sons and brothers had been indicted at several times for a variety of things such as assault, gambling, etc. In the next few days, I'll copy these files and send them to you. Also John Scott lived next to Lewis' son, Green B. Whitby, as per a court document. Lewis also gave his new wife, Lucy Westbrook, a sorrell mare horse, which I have documentation. I'll check it out and also send you that. As far as I can tell, Lewis did not leave a will in Yell County. I am going to be tied up at work for the next week or so (lots of overtime), but I should be able to get all this together for you before the first of March. 2. Linda: At Last!!! I have finally found someone researching MY family. I returned from a trip to WIlliamson County a couple of months ago and found a WHOLE BUNCH of info on the family you are looking for. John W. Scott married Polly Whitby in January 1848 in WIlliamson County. They are my Great-Great Grandparents. Their son, Thomas Warren Scott is my Great Grandfather. Polly (Pauline J. Whitby) 's parents are Lewis Whitby and Agatha Whitby (maiden name unknown). Lewis married a Lucy Westbrook in WIlliamson County around 1850. Both the Scott and Whitby families moved to Yell County, Arkansas in the late 1860s (1867). I have a whole lot of other information on this family. If you would like a copy of my GEDCOM file, let me know your mailing address and I'll send it to you. A cousin of mine, Dwight Holley lives near me in Jacksonville, TX (I live in Tyler, TX). 1. Asa Harper and family
    2. I am trying to locate an Asa Harper that was born in Virginia around 1780 and moved to Williamson County, Tennessee around the beginning of the 1800s. His wife may have been name Fannie or Harinie (hard to read the writing in the census records) who was born in Virginia about 1785. Asa and spouse appear to have had 5 children. Sterling, born in 1809 who married Viney Scott, James, born in 1818 who married Eliza Ann Luster, Asa, born 1822 who married Rebecca Burge, and two unknown female children. I am trying to find information on Fannie/Harinie's family name/correct first name, and from which county in Virginia they might have come from. Denise Liefeste Wolfpup212@aol.com

    3. My interest in Williamson County is the Sammons family line as follows: Progenitor: NEWIT SAMMONS. Born 1749, probably in Virginia. Married Claramond Lawrence in Greenesville Co., VA 13 Feb 1787. Revolutionary veteran (I have pension papers on him). Moved to Williamson County probably after 1804 and before 1810. Owned land on Nelson's Creek off the Big Hespeth River. Died 1838-1839. Children: 1. RICHARD SAMMONS 2. JOHN SAMMONS (was in Morgan Co. Illinois by 1840) 3. POLLEY SAMMONS, m. Abner HAYS. 4. MARGARET SAMMONS, m. Phillip HODGE/S on 29 April 1819 in Rutherford Co. 5. EDMUND SAMMONS, b. circa 1801 in VA, m. Ann Mariah HAYS, Oct 1826/7, in Williamson Co., d. 1857 in Schuyler Co. MO. Was in Morgan Co. Illinois by 1831, in Hancock Co., Illinois by 1847, and in Schuyler Co., MO by 1855. (I have complete information on his descendants) 6. WATSON SAMMONS, b. circa 1801 in VA, m. Lacy Dunn, 21 October 1830, in Rutherford Co, TN. He appears to have been in Chalk Bluff Twp, Greene Co., Arkansas in 1870 living with his daughter, Nancy Polsgrove, "ill and unable to work." 7. GEORGE SAMMONS, b. 5 Jul 1803, m. Sarah BELL, 23 October 1828, in Morgan Co., Illinois, d. 27 October 1873 in Schuyler Co., Missouri. (I have some information on his line). 8. ABNER SAMMONS, b. circa 1804 in VA. Appears also to have been living in Chalk Bluff Twp, Greene Co., Arkansas in 1870.) I am interested in any information/details on any of the family members, particularly on the children other than Edmund and George. I would also like to get any information on the HAYS family if available as Edmund married Ann Mariah HAYS and Polley married one Abner HAYS, possibly a brother of Ann Mariah. Bill Stewart
