    2. Bettye Heinrich
    3. BUMPASS, Thomas P. married WOODRUFF, Mary Jane on 22 Dec 1836 in Wmson CO TN their bdm was Howell S. Woodruff who I believe was her father. Howell S. Woodruff was said to have been married first to an unknown woman and had children, he then married Elizabeth Laughlin on 5 June 1820 in Wmson CO TN with Robt W. Woodruff as the bdm. From research it appears that they were brothers from Madison CO AL. Howell was on the 1820 & 1840 Wmson CO Tn federal censuses. He transferred property to Thomas Bumpass in 1845 in said county. To confuse matters, there was another Howell Woodruff who married Mary Malone on 11 Dec 1827 with James Brewer as bdm. I think this may have been one of Howell S. Woodruff's children by his 1st marriage. I would like contact with anyone researching the Woodruff and Bumpass lines in Wmson, Davidson, and Rutherford Co Tn. Thanks, Bettye

    3. Hi all, I'm new to this list. Here are the surnames that I am researching........ Benjamin HOUSDEN married Elizabeth TURNER in Rockingham CO, VA 1814. We find him next in the Williamson County 1820-1840 census. From the census, we believe that he had about 9 boys and five girls. Everthing is pretty sketchy in this time frame, the only real information is on my gg grandfather James HOUSDEN. Here are some of the names associated with the HOUSDEN clan: 1. James HOUSDEN m. Elizabeth CROCKER daughter of Bailey CROCKER and Sarah TAIT(E). (my line) 2. Benjamin HOUSDEN m. Hannah LUKE (LEEKE?) 1839 3. Polly HOUSDEN m. Samuel CHAMBERLIN 4. Sarah HOUSDEN m. James GUY 5. Rebecca Jane HOUSDEN m. William BROWN 6. John HOUSDEN - no info 7. Dan HOUSDEN ? (this is spelled as Housen, his widow Sarah, was murdered by her son and daughter - in -law in 1873. William C. HOUSDEN (Housen) and Mrs. S.J. Housen) Sarah Jane MAXWELL She lived 9 miles from Nashville on the Nolensville Pike, was the step-daughter of a Sterling GUY, and had a cousin by the name of Sterling HARPER. 8.? 9.etc..... Benjamin bought land from Jabez OWEN, and is stated in Jabez OWEN's will that Benjamin owed him a large sum of money. He sold land to Wyatt ELLIS on the praire called Mill Cr. Dec 1841. Another name on another deed is a John P. HILL. All the males seemed to fall off the face of the world. We believe that Benjamin moved to Henry CO, TN with my gg grandfather as they are listed in the 1850 Henry County census. I am researching this name with several other cousins. We seem to get more questions than answers from this time frame and area. No probate or will records have been found. The LDS has NO information on the county. Other than the deed records and census, a few marriage records from books, we are at a brick wall. Can any one tell me how church records can be obtained? (I'm out of state) I know that they lived between two historic churches, the Concord Baptist and the Liberty Methodist. I believe that the Ellis family went to the Methodist Church, but later on my line, we have always been considered very strong Baptist. Any matches, comments, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Deanna Housden-Campen
