These Allens were part of the "Great Migration" from Rockingham County, NC to the Nolensville, Triune, and College Grove area in the early 1800's. It included many families, i.e., Chadwell, Barnes, Fields, Irion, Johnson, Vernon, Cyrus, Scales, Bostic, and others. OGILVIE - family migrated to College Grove & Davidson Co 1796-1800. Much research available on this family; my particular interest is descendants of Harris Ogilvie who lived near Oglesby community off Edmunddson Pike in south Davidson Co. MARRS/MAIRS John, Joseph, Samuel, & Issac Mairs all owned land & lived on Big Harpeth River, probably in the Spencer Creek and/or Nelson Creek area just north of Franklin, in the period 1800-1805. John & Timothy Mairs also in the county in this period. Relationships of these pepople unknown? My ancestor, Issac Mairs/Marrs, m. Hannah Blackshear, widow of Jesse Blackshear, after Jesse died in Williamson Co in 1803. I believe that Issac Marrs was previously married, but I have not proven this. Issac Marrs & Hannah are believed to have had 2 or 3 children, in addition to Blackshear children, and maybe Marrs children by 1st wife. Issac & Hannah Mairs moved to Wayne Co TN between 1820 & 1830. McMAHON Daniel McMahon owned land on Big Harpeth River as early as 1786. This land was probably in the Spencer Creek and/or Nelson Creek area just north of Franklin. Daniel McMahon, born 1751, died 1838, in Williamson County. In his will he mentions a son Joseph McMahon, and daughers Rachel Farmer, Elizabeth Dickson, and Cassandra McMahon. What was his relation, if any, to Ansley (Ainsley) McMahon, a contemporary, also a resident of Williamson County. Possibly (?) a descendant McMahon family, headed by Margaret McMahon, a widow b. in VA, move from Williamson Co TN to west TN (Madison, Wayne, Hardin, Hardeman counties) in early 1820's. Lorenzo D. McMahon (I believe to be a son of Margaret) married Matheldy Marrs about 1832 in Wayne Co TN. Bill Allen allen@nconnect.net West Bend, WI

Believe we have touched base before. As you may or may not remember, I live right in the middle of all the people you are researching. What do you want to know about descendants of Harris Ogilvie. A daughter married a Hunt. I know a good bit about them. You may remember that I am also interested in Ainlsey McMahon and his relationship to Daniel. He married a Little, my great great aunt. I went to school at the Oglesby School. The name is said to have been a corruption of Ogilvie. It was located at Ogilvie's Crossroads. Oh, yes, Edmondson/Edmonson Pike is spelled one way for the part that is in Williamson County and another way for the part that is in Davidson County. T. Hi, I'm new to the list. I would like to contact any individuals who have knowledge of any of the surnames above. Particularly, I am interested in the families of George and William WEDDLE who according to census records were in Williamson Co TN between 1810 and 1820. I believe that George WEDDLE was the son of John Adam WEDDLE who lived in Hawkins Co TN with the remainder of his family before migrating to Indiana. I also have second hand knowledge that George was married to a WALLEN who died as he later married Polly Primm and adopted her two sons. Before her death she had a son named ELISHA WEDDLE, whom I believe to be named after the longhunter Elisha WALLEN. Sometime between 1820 and 1830 George and William WEDDLE moved to Haywood Co TN. It was at this time that Elisha moved to Little York in Washington Co IN. Where he later married JEMIMA OWENS in Washington County IN in 1836. If anyone knows about these families or about migrations from Haywood Co TN into Indiana in the 1820's, I need some help. This line seems to be at a standstill. Thanks much for your help. I of course would be more than willing to exchange information. Gordon Weddle
Hello I am researching my Peebles family name in Williamson Co., Tn. Specifically, I am interested in the following individuals: Howell Peebles, Jr.: Came from Northampton County, North Carolina to Williamson County, Tennessee, about 1817. Ingram Blanks Peebles: This relation is a bit fuzzy. I have one document that refers to Ingram Blanks and Howell Jr. as brothers, but the definitive story of the Peebles name in America, "Peebles / Ante 1600 - 1962" by Anne Bradbury Peebles, does not support this. There is scant mention in the book of the name Ingram Blanks Peebles, although there is mention of him. Supposedly there are land records in Williamson County on which both Howell and Ingram Blanks are mentioned. Any information anyone out there can supply me would be greatly appreciated. And if, by chance any of you happen to also be researching the Peebles name, drop me a line if I can be of any help with the aforementioned book. Sincerely Fred Peebles
Hello Can you please tell me how to go about getting copies of past digest mailings? I would like to read anything and everything that has been posted to this list. Also, how far back does this list go? Thanks for your help. Sincerely Fred Peebles
