All of it! I am interested in all of the Youngers who were in Williamson Co. -- I like comparing what I've collected with others researching this line -- sometimes it corroborates what I have found and other times gives me new directions to look in. I especially like to have sources noted. Thanks for anything you can share. Looking for information on Henry W. B. Garrett, born about 1821 or 1822. Was a member of the 2nd Tenn Cav during the Civil War. His son was J. A. Allen, born around 1860, who resided in Smyrna, Tenn., and who died there in the 1950's. I am at a deadend in trying to trace where Henry W. B. originated from or any info regarding his parents. I am trying Williamson County because I found a record of a Henry Garrett, Jr. who migrated from Va to Williamson County, and who died in that county in the 1840's. Thinking possibly he could be my Henry's father. Would appreciate any Census or other info. I am a novice at this so any advice would be helpful. Thanks Jerry Garrett
>From the looks of my map of Williamson County it looks like if you are on I-65 going towards Maury County you can get off of exit 61 and go back across the interstate and you'll be on Peytonsville road.Peytonsville road runs directly into Peytonville. If I am not mistaken,Peytonsville Road and Goose Creek by-pass run into each other. I have misplaced my glasses so if I am wrong hopefully someone will be kind enough to straighten me out. Hope this helps. Tara Thanks so much for taking the time to give me the directions. Brenda
There is a listing on line of all the Confederate soldiers that are buried in the Mc Gavock Confedeate Cemetery that is located at the Carnton Mansion in Franklin. You can search by name. Here is the url of it: http://userweb.nashville.com/~Battlefield/page2.html Cheers, Noel
Mary Thanks for the reply.. My husbands grandfather..Jesse Lee Bruce 1890-1939 is buried there..I'm hoping to find some other relatives that may be buried there.. Hope his father James Bruce or mother Bell Garner may be buried in the same cemetary.. I was able to get a death certif/for Jesse, but have no further info on his parents.. If you run across anything, please let me know. Thanks Brenda Knight
Brenda: According to the cemetery book, it is located in the 11th District, north side of Peytonsville Road, about 2 miles east of US 431. Turn at Marlin Store which is 10 miles from Franklin. I don't know where that might be, I have never been there. I was supposed to go to the cemetery with Bertha Poteete Dobbins, who was 97 years old at the time. Sadly she passed away before we got to go. Who are your people buried there? Some of my Jackson relatives are buried there. Mary
Could someone please give me the location of the Poteete Family Cemetary in Williamson County..I'm in the Nashville area and need to do some family research on relatives buried in that cemetary. Thanks Brenda Knight
Could I jump in on the Taylor message? My ggg grand father, Thomas Adams, from Rockingham Co., NC, had a daughter, Sally, who married an Unknown Taylor. I have no information on this Taylor; however, when Thomas Adams property was sold in Williamson Co. near Nolensville, TN in 1816 this daughter signed as Sally Taylor. The father of Thomas Adams, George Adams, has adjoining property to John Taylor in Rockingham Co., NC in 1787 and George Adams' will was witnessed by James Taylor in 1802 in Rockingham Co., NC. Also a William Taylor bought items at the estate sale of Thomas Adams in Williamson Co. near Nolensville, Tn in 1800. If your Taylor's were near Nolensville, they probably are related to the Taylor's from Rockingham Co., NC.
Donna: These Taylors are not related to Judy's James Matterson Taylor, at least as far as I've been able to determine. James' father, John Wesley Taylor, has so far not left any trace of himself prior to his marriage to Letitia Givens in 1837 in Williamson County. One cousin speculates he may have come from Carter County, but again, nothing has been proved. As your census records indicate, their were no other Taylor's around him in District 1, which is curious in itself for that time period.
