Hello, My name is Dan Fulghum and I am the G-G-G-Grandson of Arthur Fulghum. Arthur was the brother of Theophilus Fulghum (12-15-1781 to 1-13-1856) who married Mary Polly Williamson on January 2, 1810, in Dobbs County North Carolina. Arthur, his wife Alice (McKinnie), Theophilus, and Mary, migrated to Williamson County, Tennessee, between 1810 and 1820. Arthur moved on to Hardeman County, Tennessee, sometime prior to 1830, but Theophilus and Mary stayed in Williamson County. I hope that there are some family members out there that might be able to shed some light on the Williamson and Fulghums living in Williamson County (i.e. occupations, family connections, social status, etc.). Thanks, Dan Fulghum Houston, Texas
Does anyone on the Williamson County Mailing List know where Owens Station in Williamson County, Tennessee is? What part of the county is it close to today? Where can I go to get a good map of 1830 to 1850 Williamson County? I've been to the USGS site but the coordinates are unknown for Owens Station. Thanks, Colleen Taylor
Hi Collene, You will probably have to go to the Williamson County Archives, 510 Columbia Avenue, Franklin, TN. They should have what you're searching for. Unfortunately, I have been here 22 years now and I've never heard of an Owens Station, but there is a place called Thompsons Station. It may have been called Owens Station before it was named Thompson station. I hope the address will help you and I will try to ask friends and family here in town about you inquiry. I will email you back if I find out anything. You should also consider the Williamson County Library, they have archives there that can only be accessed in person, I will have to go there myself very soon as I'm searching to find family Tree history myself. I've added links to pages that may help you find what you need as well. Could someone explain to me what a marriage bond is? I have a copy of my gggrandmothers "marriage license/marriage bond." She was married in Williamson County in 1866. The bond shows that $1250.00 was posted prior to marriage. The way I read this is that amount had to be posted to obtain a license? Thanks Joyce Mallare [email protected]
Actually, no money was posted. The person who "made the bond" actually just signed as being responsible. The bondsman just certified that the person was, in fact, legible to marry. In theory if the prospective husband was not legible to marry, the bondsman could be charged the amount of the bond. The amount of the bond was set by the state. In practice, most of the time, the person making the bond could never have paid the amount which was probably years of income. Eldon J. Some where (and think it was here) I found a post of an old newpaper obit for Sarah Barnes widow of John Barnes. I believe the obit was dated in 1870's or 1880's. Some kind soul decided to clean up my genealogy pile of papers I was working on and now it is gone. I have searched my papers and computer files for days and it is just gone. One of my most important Pieces of information. Is there anyone that can or will do a look up for me in any obit books or files you may have? I would also like to know if we can research the old archived posts that have been sent to this list and if so how. I have looked all over for an internet link and can't find anything. Any help at all would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Sandy

Is anybody researching the Wrenn's that I can contact? Is there anybody on this list that has a marriage record book that can do a quick lookup for me? AM looking for the confirmation of the marriage of Peter Wrenn and Clara Sparkman married ca. 1832 and any information on William James Wrenn and Mary Lee Wiley who supposedly resided in Williamson County. Also am looking for any information on a Benjamin Wrenn and his wife, Rebecca Bailey Wrenn who moved into the area from Virginia ca. 1829/1830 Any help would be appreciated, Gordon Harbison Canton, Mich

Has someone changed the list format to eliminate the TNWILLA from the subject line??? I used to be able to tell which was list email and which was spam by looking for the list name, but now I have to open everything to see where it came from..... If we are not familiar with all the list members, we cannot tell who is sending the email....
