Charles Campbell married Ann Nowland 4 May 1791 in Davidson Co. TN. Any info on him appreciated. This is all I have but suspect he may have been father of Edward Campbell b. 1791/1792 in Williamson Co., TN. Thanks for any help. Wanda

Does anybody know if there exists an index to the big red "Nolensville 1797-1987" book. I have a copy of the book and would love to have an index. Judy Tyree Bean [email protected]
Greetings Williamson researchers! I just joined this list after having a breakthrough on one of my lines thanks to the help of a couple of other Giles County researchers. Apparently my gg grandfather who we've been stuck on forever was married in Williamson County to Elizabeth Hale (or Hall) on Jan. 28, 1947. Up until finding out about this marriage, we had no idea where they were prior to showing up in Giles County in the 1860 census. Does anyone out there know if 1830, 1840 or 1850 censuses are online anywhere? I've checked the usual suspect sites and haven't seen any sign of them. If that's not the case, does anyone have easy access to the census who could do a look-up for me to try to find my James in the 1850 census? Any Russell families in the prior censuses would be a help too. Thanks much for any help anyone can provide! Hi Jane, I see on your list of names at the botton you are researching the name "Reagin". Could Reagin/Region be spelling variations of the same name? If so are your Reagin's in Williamson County? I have James A. Barnes b. Aug. 7, 1820 NC m. Celia Region Nov. 4,1840 Williamson Co. TN. James A. Barnes was the son of John A. Barnes and Sarah (I believe Mangrum, not sure). John and Sarah were m. July 16, 1814 Granville, N. C. Is there a possibility here? Thanks, Sandy Other names that are connected in Williamson Co. are, Haithcock, Austin, Christley, King, Andrews, Peach, Mc Dowell, Garrett, Britton, Featherston, Pyburn, Young and Sparkman. Some of these are really shirtail but that could be the door to a better connection. ----- Original Message ----- From: Jane Gilbert <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, April 30, 2001 5:03 PM Subject: [TNWILLIA] Census help?? I am looking for information on my great-grandparents and their ancestors: he, Thomas Jefferson Harrell: she, Elizabeth Jane Luckett. He was born in Georgia, 18 April 1848 and she was born in Tennessee, 22 June 1853. They were married in Williamson County, Tennessee on 1 December 1879; had two sons in Tennessee, Charles Shannon born 1880 and William Tom born 1882, before moving to Hood County, Texas between 1882 and 1885. The rest of their family was born in Texas and both g-grandparents are buried there.
About seeking ancestral home sites in Williamson County. The Williamson County TNGENWEB site lists the e-mail address for a Mr. T. Vance Little who is a Williamson County historian. He knows a wealth of information about where old homes in Williamson County were located. You might try him. Doris
Sandy, they are at the archives also (downstairs) because I looked at them while I was there and I bought a few so I could follow up on some things after I got back to Texas. For the price I didn't go wrong. When I am through using them they will be donated to out local Library that is small and can't buy many books. Many of the people in this area have roots in that part of Tennessee. Carma Researching: McKee, Rountree, Jamison, Robinson, Ray, and others in Williamson County.
The Williamson County Archives would have all the information you need.

I may be asking a stupid question here but I need to ask it anyway. The "Friends of Williamson County Archives" show a list of Books that can be ordered. Some of them are: Death Records of Williamson County Early Obituaries of Williamson County Directory of Williamson County Burials - Vol. 1 & 3 Directory of Williamson County Burials - Vol. 2 Early Families of Northeastern Williamson County Williamson County Lawsuits Williamson County Marriage Records 1851-1879 Newspaper Excerpts of Historical Records, Williamson County Newspaper Excerpts 1822-1835 Can anyone tell me if buying them is the only way to see them or are they available in the Library? First off, thanks so much for the many prompt responses and offerings to help. I'm looking for homes for: Andrew Ewing b. 3/15/1740 Penn. d. 4/3/1813 Nashville or Franklin William Ewing (Andrew's son) b. 11/29/1771 d. 11/24/1845 Andrew Ewing (Andrew's son) b. 7/1/1768 d. 5/1/1830 Franklin Andrew B Ewing son of William Ewing (1771) b. 7/27/1796 Granny White Pike, Barton's Station d. 5/15/1880 Franklin William Ewing son of Andrew B Ewing (1796) b. 5/3/1823 d. 4/27/1863 don't know where he lived but he was a representative of Williamson County Lida Hooker Withers wife of above William Ewing daughter of John W. Withers , Lida b. 5/22/1835 d. 11/21/1865 both in Franklin William Milton Ewing son of William and Lida b. 12/9/1862 in Franklin d. 1923 Margaret Dunn Mills wife of William Milton Ewing daughter of Dero F Mills and Elizabeth Shute, I believe she was born in Franklin Margaret McGavock Ewing daughter of William Milton and Margaret Mills , my grandmother, b. 3/18/1892 (?) d. 1/30/1978 Atlanta GA This is an awful lot of people I know and there were more brothers and sisters in the Franklin area, even if I could just visit the property of one of them that would mean a lot to me. Doesn't matter if the house is still there, just want to stand on ancestral soil. I'm going to be in Franklin for about four days and I know there are a lot of beautiful places to see, I hate to think I was actually looking at family property and didn't know it. I had brochures mailed to me, but, the only Ewing connections I found in visitors guide were the Simms House, Marshall House, Carnton Plantation, Carter House, Midway and Ridley House......these are all related through Ewing women marrying proprietor. I was hoping to find a Ewing home or land or something. I've got a lot of Ewing data if any one needs help with family married to Ewings. Unfortunately I only have excerpts from Ewing books that relate to my line, but still, I have a lot. Also, I lave two old family albums with pictures dating back to the Civil War with only a few identified, I'm hoping to find a way to figure out who these folks are when I'm there. I'd put them out on the internet, but I'm not computer savvy enough to do so. I'm in the Atlanta area if any one is near here and would like to see these pictures. Or I'll be up in Franklin starting about July 17th through July 21st. Thanks Billie Ewing Ronk
In downtown Franklin, there is, in the same building as the Post Office, a Genealogy area with tons of genealogical types of data...books containing deeds, court actions, marriages, deaths, wills, etc. You might have a look there, particularly in the deed area. The lady that works in that room is pretty familiar with the county and she could probably direct you to places mentioned in the deeds. There is a huge map on the wall of the county also...with all the cemeteries identified. Not sure if it will help or not, but it's worth a stop....you go into the post office building and then stay to the right...go around the window and down the hallway and you will find a door at the end. The hours are posted on the door....I think they open about 8 or 8:30 in the morning. Bob Smith/Huntsville AL
I would like the answeres to these questions also as I will be going to Franklin TN. this summer for the same reasons. I would like to see where their homes were, or maybe even are still standing. How do I go about finding such addresses? My husband is a land surveyor, I was thinking maybe we could go to the court house and look up old deeds.....perhaps? Or is there a place on line so I could find this out so I don't have to spend so much time in a court house or library. I don't have any of that info in the small amount of family papers I have. Does anyone have any information on the COURTNEY family of Franklin? Robert (1809-1859) and Eliza (Haynes) [dates unknown] had seven children, I think. There is a "Courtney House - 1840" near the Post Office that may have been theirs. Thanks for any leads...Lynn
