I saw a reference to a book entitled "A Genealogy of the Family of William S. Marshall of Eagleville TN" compiled by Christine Cole Marshall, published 1990 (I think). She mentions my ancestor, Sarah Jerusia MARSHALL, daughter of William Marshall and Mary Byson MITCHELL. Does anyone on the list have a copy of this book or know how to get a copy? Does the library in Williamson County own the book? Thanks, Helen [email protected]
Could someone tell me the hours for the library on Main St. in Franklin and for the Co. Library Gen. Dept. on Columbia Ave? I found the addresses, but no hours. Thanks. Donna
I am researching the Andes family -- members of which were found in Washington Co., TN and later moved to Laurel Co. KY. Did you find any of your Andes ancestors following the same trail? Pam H. Greetings, I received this notice today. If you have or might have ancestors who were from Virginia, you need to check this one out. Plan on spending some time. There is a lot of information. http://www.lva.lib.va.us/dlp/index.htm "The Library of Virginia's Digital Library Program (DLP) is an internationally recognized effort to preserve, digitize, and provide access to significant archival and library collections. The DLP transfers rare and unique Virginia materials into an integrated, user-friendly electronic research environment. Since its inception in 1995, the Program has digitized more than 2.2 million original documents, photographs, and maps, and produced more than 80 fully- searchable databases, indexes, and electronic finding aids." noel

For your information: To the List: If you have Tennessee roots you will be interested in a new publication titled "The Reconstructed 1810 Census of Tennessee." To be published in June, this 600-page volume will include more than 30,000 records of citizens of Tennessee in 1810. Since nearly all of the original census was destroyed many years ago, this reconstructed census will be an invaluable research tool. The work is based on names extracted from tax lists, court minutes, church records, wills, deeds and other sources dated 1809-1811 in Tennessee. The author made this extensive effort to track every adult male in Tennessee. In addition many entries for women, children, free blacks and slaves were also located. The book was complied by Charles A. Sherrill, a well-known Tennessee genealogist, librarian and lecturer. His earlier works include "Tennesseans in Court" and "Tennessee Convicts." For a sample page of text and ordering information, contact Charles A. Sherrill at this e-mail address: [email protected] Noel
HI Listers, I have had this message on before but post it about yearly in case new folks have joined and not seen it. Somewhere in Williamson County is the information I need about my Grandfather, Sid Able(s). He was born in 1876 in Franklin. I have found his name in several tax rolls and he and a Betye Potts took out a marriage license in 1899, but were apparently not married. He is my brick wall. I have spent 4 days in the Williamson County Archives and that is all I found. He had some relatives in the Boston area, I believe as some Ables lived there in the last hafl of the 1800's. He came to East TN and lived and died here in 1924. We do not know who his family was or why he left Franklin. If anyone has any information on any ABLES who lived in Williamson County at any time, please let me know. Thank you, Doris Carrigan [email protected]
Sandy, it depends on which highway you are on and how many 18 wheelers are behind and next to you, LOL. Seriously though, it can take between a half hour and 45 minutes depending on the rush hour traffic, time of day, and where in Nashville you are going. It can get quite congested around the downtown exits.
Thank you all for taking the time to answer my question. I really appreciate the help that is given on this list. You are all great. Would someone with access to the early marriage records of Williamson Co. TN please lookup the marriage of John Brooks dated 21 Dec. 1826 and tell me how they've spelled his bride's name? It is supposed to be Jane Christley but her surname has dozens of spelling variations. Anyone know anything about either the Brooks or Christley families in Wmson. Co. in the early 1800's? Thanks in advance! Lorien Gunsallus
Hello List, Does anyone have a copy the Williamson Co, Marriage Book 1804-1850? I'm wondering if theres a William KELLETT or KELLET Listed, his wifes name might be BRYANT, they were married around 1806. I don't know her first name. I would appreciate any kind of help... Thanks, Calvin Kellett Jr...
When I come to Williamson County this summer to do research I would like to search for the death record of my great great grandparents Solomon M. Barnes and Sarah (Mangrum?) Barnes. I believe they died some time in the 1870's. What newspapers would I look in to search for these? I believe they lived around the Franklin area. Thanks for any leads at all. Sandy
Hello Williamson Co Researchers. I am searching for the family of Moses A. BYERS (Aug 8, 1824 TN to May 12, 1898 Norene, Wilson Co TN) He is my 3rd g-grandfather and brick wall. He was born in TN and there were no BYERS in Wilson Co TN (where he lived most of his life) in 1810, 1820 or 1830, but there were BYERS in nearby Williamson Co in 1810 & 1820, I believe he may have been from the area. I have searched the Putnam Co TN BYERS thoroughly without success, though the patriarch of that clan was named "Moses" (1792 NC) Is anyone on this list researching or familiar with the Williamson Co BYERS? Moses BYERS (1824 TN) married Lucretia PRITCHARD (born Dec 16, 1832, married Moses A BYERS April 10, 1848 in Wilson Co., TN, died >1898). Lucretia was the daughter of Benjamin Prichard (born April 16, 1792 VA, died Aug 3, 1872 Norene, Wilson Co TN) and Mary Ann (Polly) Campbell (born March 10, 1796 KY or TN, died Dec 5, 1869 Norene, Wilson Co TN). Benjamin & Polly married in Wilson County, TN, on July 15, 1816. Mary Ann (Polly) Campbell was the daughter of James Campbell, who was born in 1766 in IRE according to Goodspeed's History of DeKalb Co TN.. The only known child of Moses A BYERS (1824 TN) was Sarah Ann (born May 7,1850, died Nov 30,1867). She was married about 1866 to Charles L Robertson (born ~1840 Halifax Co VA to Anthony B Robertson & unknown). Sarah Ann died at age 17, a week after giving birth to twin daughters. Moses & Lucretia BYERS raised their twin granddaughters. The twins were Sarah Laura (born Nov 23, 1867, died May 30, 1882) and Martha Flaura (born Nov 23, 1867, died Aug 26, 1896). Martha Flaura married James Henry White (1869 Warren Co TN - 1964 Davidson Co TN). The couple had three children: Valeira ( 5 Sep 1892 Wilson Co TN to Sep 27, 1971 Orlando FL), Freddie (died May 9, 1894 Aged 9 days in Wilson Co TN) and Flaura (Aug 13, 1896 Wilson Co TN - lived adult life in Warren Co TN - died 1981 Hamilton Co TN). Flaura (1896) is my maternal grandmother. Renee
Hi, I've been lurking on this list for a couple weeks. I have a family that I am researching that moved from Halifax Co., VA to Williamson Co., TN after the Rev. war. Robert Carter (s/o John & Mary [Cunningham] Carter) was b. Halifax Co., VA 1770 and died Williamson Co., TN 1839. His wife was Unity Cook (d/o John Cook & Mary? [possibly Blagrave/Blackgrove]) was b. Halifax Co., VA abt 1774 and died in Williamson Co., TN 1809. I know the names of some of their children, but would like a complete list and the names of any/all spouses, if possible. My husband's COOK line is from the second marriage of John Cook (f/o Unity) to Elizabeth Walthall [Cousins... by 1st marriage]. The children of John Cook's 2nd family, for the most part, moved to Green Co., KY. I am willing to exchange information with anyone who may have connections. Thanks in advance for any assistance. Be well & God bless, Kate Beaugrand Cook Minnesota [email protected] or [email protected]
