I find it hard to believe that the college has been there for 65 years, so the College Grove name must be for a subdivision adjacent to RSCC. We have to go to the courthouse tomorrow and then make a quick trip to Rockwood. We can easily drive by just to see and/or ask at the courthouse. I'll let you know afterward. Linda Lang
COTTAGE Grove is located in West Tennessee, in Henry County, near the Weakley County line. COLLEGE Grove is located in Middle Tennessee, southeast of Franklin, TN, in Williamson County, near the Rutherford County line, nor far from the Marshall County line. Maybe the town in Roane County is spelled differently, or it is just not on the current maps.

Go to mapquest (http://www.mapquest.com and type in "College Grove" for the city and "TN" for the state. I do not know if it's still a town or if it was annexed by a bigger city. As to the question of which College Grove, the death certificate may possibly help. Also, newspaper obituaries and the 1930 census may give some clues. -Stephanie
Do you have any addition information on A.N.B. Brooks? Tami, I live in Roane Co. I don't know of a College Grove, but it could be one of the older, smaller communities, or it could have been wiped out by the Manhattan Project, TVA, or highway construction. If you can't find your person in Williamson Co., let me know the name and anything else that you might know and I'll check it out from here. Linda Oliver Springs TN
In 1938 the Town of College Grove would be located in Williamson Co. (or any other timefor that matter) Is there another College Grove in Roane Co.? Roane Co. is in east Tn.

Do you know what years Dr. Cliffe practiced medicine? Thanks, Colleen Taylor
Dear Colleen, I have some information on Dr. D. B. Cliffe including a portrait of him. He was a friend of Dr. Louis Shy, and Louis' daughter Lizzie named her first born son Daniel Cliffe Oliver in honor of Dr. Cliffe. The name Cliffe has been passed down in our family. However, I know nothing about Dr. Cliffe's family except what is found in the Census. So, I know nothing about the Stewart name. Regards, Jeanne Montana
