    1. Re: The McDowell DNA Project is under way !!!!!!
    2. At last ! The long awaited DNA Project for the "McDowell's" is entering it's 4th week now,and it is really picking up steam !!! Williamson Co. Tn. is at the focal point of the earlier settlements of the "McDowell" family since 1786,and before. We are needing all male McDowell's to step-up to the plate and take a painless swab on the inside of the cheek, the cost for the test kit is nominal at just $99.00 for the 12 marker test. What the test will tell you is....Who you may be related to,with 99% certainty ! ...and What other family groups you are related to,.....Also, the closenes of the association !!! Think of it folks,,,,you'll be bringing all these people together, and just think of all of the info that we can share with the Williamson Co. Archives, the Library, the Historic Society, etc. Please advise the McDowell males you know of this and ask them to take the test,it is the beginning of a wonderful legacy for Williamson county!!! If intrested, you may email the Administrator at.....charlotte_baker@tds.net....and she will direct you through, and provide you with all the neede info. Thanx,Good luck, Chuck McDowell

Points of Interest James Johnson of 1778-1779-1780 Henry County is gone in 1782 This brings up an interesting point as ( in 1778-79 Henry Co. ) Rev. Thomas Murrell left and went into area that became Hawkins Co. Tn:: He came back (1781) and Married the widow Rebekah/ Elizabeth Martin- Johnston:: She is supposedly the widow of Major/ Capt. James Johnston : Killed on the Clinch River while Returning Home::Hudson Johnston went into this same area as Rev. Thomas Murrell : Hawkins County( See Person of Interest Combs Research Site) We now know Hudson Johnston in 1783 settled in between an Ingram (? William Ingram) and a Sims ( ? James Bartlett Sims) of an area that became Hawkins Co. Tn. And Hudson Johnston and Rev. Thomas Murrell followed each other intoWIlliamson Co. Tn in 1803 into Dickson Co. Tn. Where they both died, and Hudson Johnston-Johnsons widow was taken in by Rev. Thomas Murrells family when she was 80-90 years of age.( 1840 Dickson Co. census / 1843 Admint of her! estate). IN 1778 Hudson Johnson is in the same house as James Johnson, in 1780 he is with William Johnson who we find still in Henry County 1782 Tithables and one James Johnson is gone in 1782 ?? Food for Thought:::: James Johnston that married Rebekah -Elizabeth Martin is shown to come from the Royal Lines of Johnston's of Scotland::: Same lines connected to Rev. Edward Johnson???? Researching info:: 1746::: Goblintown Creek is in Halifax Co.Va 1778 area seems to be in Henry Co. Va 1791 in Patrick Co. Va. Possible that some of this area is also in Franklin Co. VA. Also in this Area of Goblintown Creek is a Pig Iron Factory owned by the Hairston Family of Patrick CO.Va. Tony

    1. RE: [TNWILLIA] Emma (Walker) Moss
    2. Stephanie Struby
    3. Oops. I did forget to mention that Emma and Odell were both born in Williamson County. Emma Walker's father (Alonzo Denson Walker) died in 1901 just before she was born. Her mother is Martha Daley Vineyard. Martha died 1920. After Emma's father died, they all lived with her brother, Robert Walker, in Williamson County. The family homestead is on Walker Hill Road near Fairview. If I remember correctly, Emma, Martha, and the rest of the family are living with either Robert or Seth (the other brother) in 1910 in Williamson County. But, I didn't see Emma living with Robert Walker or Seth Walker in 1920. She just vanished! -Stephanie Bragg Struby stephstruby@earthlink.net -----Original Message----- From: Stephanie Struby [mailto:stephstruby@earthlink.net] Sent: Monday, April 12, 2004 8:20 PM To: TNWILLIA-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [TNWILLIA] Emma (Walker) Moss For those of you who like a challenge: I cannot find my great-grandmother, my great-grandfather, nor my grandmother in the 1920 census. It's becoming an obsession to find them. :) Great-grandmother = Emma Beulah (nee Walker) Moss. Great-grandfather = Robert Thomas Moss. Oldest child = Lillian Odell Moss. I found Emma in 1910 (Williamson County) and 1930 (Davidson County). However, I did find a Robert Moss living in Davidson County in 1920, but I don't know if it's him. Emma was born in 1901. Robert was born in 1894. Odell was born in 1918. They were all born in Tennessee. My current theory is that the Robert Moss living in Davdison County in 1920 *is* my great-grandfather AND the other two never made it on the census records because they were travelling between her brother's house (where she was raised) and her husband's new house in Nashville. 3. For those of you who like a challenge: I cannot find my great-grandmother, my great-grandfather, nor my grandmother in the 1920 census. Emma was born in 1901. 2. Helen, I am interested in your response to the Davis Family. I have, without dates and not verified, the following: Earley Thomas Davis married to Lillie Mills Davis with the following children: Eugene Jonah; Florence; Mary; Nell; Rachel; Willie; Ada. Lillie later married Drew Clinnie Stephens. Could this be connected to your Davis family? Thanks.
