If any of you live in the Sparta area, I could really use your help! I'm hoping to figure out what Robert G. Anderson's relationship to George RICE may have been when in 1806 Rice appointed Robert G. Anderson as his administrator. Is there any record or rumor amongst the Andersons of any Anderson women having married a Rice prior to 1806? I know Robert was in Bourbon County, KY in 1800 with the Bryants and am curious as to the connection between the Andersons and Bryants, and also Turner Lane. I find Turner Lane, the Bryants, and George Rice in Wythe County, VA in 1793. Mr. Lane was a teacher back in Virginia, and I'm wondering if he taught school in old Jackson and White Counties too. Are there any Wood/Woods families living near Robert G. Anderson's family in White County? A George Rice in Wythe County VA married Nancy Woods there in December 1793. This is possibly a first or second wife of George Rice, or this is a younger George Rice. George's wife in White County was Mary. He left a great deal of his estate to Sally Rice, his daughter by his first wife, and the rest of his children were to inherit as they came of age, indicating they were minors in 1806. Unfortunately, the page his will and settlement were supposed to appear on were missing from the original book at the Sparta courthouse, and I was hoping to fnd a more detailed record of his children.
