In the White County "Oldest Marriage Book" there appear many marriages by Thomas Green and William Green. I believe both must have been J. P.'s. The minister's names are proceeded by Rev. and the J.P.'s are followed by Esq. Does anyone have any information on the duties of J.P.'s of the 1840's? I am researching any Greens in White, so please make any responses to the list.
