Took a little trip to Sparta today, and found out that Robert G. Anderson and one of his boys were appointed administrator of George Rice's estate. The Mary Rice that appears on the 1820 or 1830 census was his wife. Also, John Bryan was involved in this scenario, and these Bryans are descended from Morgan Bryan, and related to Rebecca (Bryan) Boone. Got the info from the Registrar of Deeds. The index for the White County minute book had George Rice's will indexed, but that page (rather conveniently) was gone. Just my luck! Apparently the William Rice on cumberland mountain was a son of this George Rice. There were two William Rices in White county on the 1825 taxlist, one of whom was mine. George Rice died in White County in 1806, and my William B. Rice may have been a son of this other William from the 1820 census - or possibly even the same William (the other one may have just been there between 1820 and 1830 and just moved off. I have also found that Robert G. Anderson may have been a son of James Anderson of Spartanburg County, South Carolina, raising the distinct possibility that he could have been a brother of my William Rice's wife, Eleanor/Ellender. At present, I haven't any info on these Andersons, except that James had one daughter born between 1790 and 1800 enumerated in his household in Spartanburg County in 1800. If anyone has info on these Bryan and Anderson families, please contact me! George Rice just may have been my William B. Rice's father. James H. Rice who appears in White county Minutes in 1811 may have been a brother or uncle to William B. Rice. The name "James Harvey Rice" is used by William's descendants. Would like to track John Bryan and the Andersons to where they originated to see if there are any Rice families amongst them. A Samuel Rice appears in Green County, KY and there is a Judd connection to the Boones and to Green County. The Judd families of Green and Adair Counties, KY are strongly associated with my Rice family. Also, one of William's and Eleanor's grandsons was named "Green" Rice. Hopefully, this can be figured out. My suspicion that Eleanor may have been a Looper just doesn't pan out at all.
