I am wondering if anyone else on the list is researching the Rice families in White County. I am convinced that Theodorick Bland Rice and my ancestor, William B. Rice were cousins. Theodorick was a grandson of Charles Rice Sr. of Goochland County, Virginia, but we've not been able to determine where William B. Rice came from. We are also wondering if he is the same William Rice who owned the property on Cumberland Mountain on Big Laurel Creek. A William Rice had his survey witnessed by George W. Miller and Enoch Rice on September 24, 1824. There are several land grants for this William Rice on Cumberland Mountain. I am thinking this very well may have been our William B. Rice who also purchased the land on Peter's Cove Branch and along the Falling Water River, and who is buried in the Rice Cemetery with Eleanor Rice near Burgess Falls Park. Do any of you have any information on this? William's origin continues to be a mystery. Thanks Will Smith
