Would anyone know where I could get a copy of this record? < According to the White County website through TnGenWeb, this is available at the County Clerk's Office (Marriages from 1809 - Present) at: County Clerk 1 E. Bockman Way Sparta, TN 38583 (931) 836-3712 I would suggest you call them for their current Fee before sending your request. THOUGHT: For those of you who are having difficulty finding the marriage of your ancestor recorded in White County, try checking Warren County. Some of my ancestors originally settled in White County by 1806. But, in 1807 the area they settled became Warren County. Also, try the following counties: Cannon (1836 - from Coffee & Warren) Coffee (1836 - from Franklin & Warren) DeKalb (1837-38, from Cannon, Warren & White) Franklin (1807 - from Warren) Grundy (1844 - from Coffee & Warren) Van Buren (1840 - from Warren & White) Warren (1807 - from White) White (1806 - from Overton, Jackson & Smith) PLEASE NOTE, each of the above counties were formed from land that at one time was a part of WHITE County. I have listed the year each county was formed and ONLY the counties that had been a part of White County at the time they were established. For example: Cannon County was formed from Coffee, Warren and Wilson counties in 1836. BUT, Wilson County was NEVER a part of WHITE County at any time. Therefore, it was not included. LIKEWISE, any marriages PRIOR to 1806 in what became known as WHITE Co., look at Overton (1806), Jackson (1801) or Smith (1799) counties. Hope this gives some of you success in your search!
