    1. [TNWHITE] DAVIS, Ruben/Reuben & Liley Ann; TN>KY

    3. I'm searching for information about my DAVIS line, specifically Ruben/Reuben DAVIS and his wife, Liley Ann [KIRBY/KERBY]. Liley Ann KIRBY/KERBY was apparently born around Aug, 1870, in Warren Co, TN. Ruben/Reuben (various spellings) DAVIS was apparently born around June, 1865, in White County, TN. They apparently resided in White County, TN for a period of time, later moving to Bardwell (Carlisle Co), KY. I say "apparently" because at this time I only have one census and a child's birth certificate to give me these approximates. They had several children, and I only know about five of them (dates according to information on 1900 census and one birth cert.): John Lee DAVIS, b. Oct 1886 TN Henry DAVIS, b. Feb 1890 TN Nettie DAVIS, b. June 1892 TN Elmore DAVIS, b. Dec 1898 TN Edna Irene DAVIS, b. Sep 19, 1913 Bardwell, KY They show up on the 1900 census in White County, TN, but moved to Bardwell, KY, sometime before 1913 when their daughter, Edna Irene, was born. John Lee DAVIS was my grandfather. He died in the 1920's at a rather young age of pneumonia. His death took place in Illinois, and he is allegedly buried in Granite City, IL. According to Edna Irene DAVIS' birth certificate, there were eleven children born to the couple but only 7 living at the time of Edna's birth. Obviously there are other children that I haven't "discovered" in this family yet! There are some family "rumors" that there is Indian blood somewhere in the line, perhaps on both sides (DAVIS and KIRBY/KERBY). There has never been any proof that I know of to confirm this, but I "throw it out" in case someone on the list may have some clues on connections to this family line. I have no other information about this family -- no records on actual births, deaths, marriages, etc. I was lucky to find Edna Irene's birth certificate in Bardwell, KY, from a hunch based on a single photograph with some obscure info on the back. If anyone has information about this family, or thinks they have a connection, please contact me. I have had great difficulty locating any records on this family, so any leads would certainly be welcome! Joan -- Email: joanm@bigfoot.com
