    1. [TNWHITE] Silas Howell and Margaret Sue Saylors lookup
    2. Willie D. Smith
    3. If any of you have the 1900 census of White and/or Putnam Counties, I would greatly appreciate a lookup for Margaret S. Howell with two minor children, Amedy/Almeda and Eva Lena Howell. Silas Howell and Margaret Sue Saylors were married in 1893, and Silas died in 1899. His first wife was Matilda C. Rice, whom he married in 1843 in White County. I am interested in information regarding what happened to Margaret Sue (Saylors) Howell, who may have been born about 1873. Her daughters by Silas were born between 1893 and 1899, probably in White County. thanks Will Smith +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Humorous thought for the month: "If your grandparents never had children, chances are neither shall you!"

    3. thanks Jane for the info on Ansearchin' you posted to the list. Some of those articles may be available through Allen County Public Libaray (aka PERSI), too. Jane, maybe you could help me. I some notes copied by a friend from some library in NC. There is a reference to a Bible Record being published in Ansearchin' ca 1961. I e-mailed TGS to see if they had an index to see if this had been published in their Ansearchin. Got no reply.. Is there a master index for ansearchin? 2. For those of you who may not know, Ansearchin' News, a publication of the Tennessee Genealogical Society has published several resources on White County, TN.( and other counties as well) I am including the list of those articles on White County in the event that some of you would want to look at any of them in your local library if they happen to have the copies. Many large genealogical libraries do have copies. Storekeeper's Journal 1845-1858 (Jesse Lincoln, Daniel Clark), Vol. 13 (1966) 850 unclaimed letters at postoffice 1824-1841, Vol. 14 (1967) Old Roberts, Philadelphia, Mt. Pisgah, and Mt. Gilead cemeteries, Vol. 16 (1969) 1811 tax list (600+ names), 1840 census index, military pensioners, 1850 mortality schedule, Vol. 18 (1971) Families in 1860 census, Vol. 28 (1981) Families in 1860 census (concluded), Vol. 29 (1982) 1807 petition, Vol. 33 (1986) Jones Cemetery, Vol. 35 (1988) 1813 petition to appoint veterans to train militia (60 names), Vol. 36 (1989) 1813 petitions (1) opposing toll gate (148 names), (2) authorizing upkeep of turnpike (24 names), (3) supporting recompense for Col. George Sanders (96 names), Vol. 37 (1990) Items from the Sparta Review of early 1820's, land sold for unpaid 1814 U. S. direct tax (9 names), Vol. 43 (1996) Merchants Licenses 1845-46, Vol. 45 (1998) I have found the annotation of the 1860 White Co. Census by Harold Wallace, now deceased, in Vol. 28 and 29 to be very helpful. You may also purchase these issues from the Tennessee Genealogical Society. This link will take you directly to the page containing the ordering info. I have no financial interest in the group, just sharing a resource that has been helpful to me. 1. Re: [TNWHITE] WILHITE
    2. Hi Wendy Gayle, My husband's great grandmother was Lenora Jane Wilhite of White County, Tennessee, daughter of Jeremiah Wilhite and Priscilla Pass. She married John Roberson/Robison/Robeson/Robertson/Robinson in White County, Tennessee in the mid-1850s. She and John had three little boys when he was killed in the war. I think they were in Arkansas by that time. She later married John Thurman, with whom she had three more boys. My husband is the grandson of Lenora's second son. I have this website for White County: http://www.tngenweb.org/white/index.html Joyce Roberson West Hills, California
