Sandy... Betty... and any cousins reading this. I would really love to attend the Snodgrass family reunion, but can't. My wife and I own a bed & breakfast in the North Carolina Smokies and the summer -- especially the fourth -- is very busy for us. 'Just can't get away. My gg-grandfather David Snodgrass (son of Major James) and g-grandfather Thomas Snodgrass are both buried at Plum Creek cemetery... as is g-grandmother Eliza Jane Evans Snodgrass. (My Evans ancestors, gg-grandfather Sevier and ggg-grandfather Nathaniel, are also buried at the Pleasant Hill Cemetary in Sparta.) To complete my White County Snodgrass line, it's... David > Thomas > Charles Edward > Charles Edward, Jr. > Charles Edward III (me) I would greatly appreciate _any_ information, histories, antecdotes, pictures, and/or maps showing the location of the (David Snodgrass) family farm in White County. I know very little about my White County heritage. I also have a deep interest in learning about gggf Thomas' African slave "Charles Snodgrass" who he owned and, after the war, supported while living in White County. (Thomas later moved to Cumberland County, where the next three generations of my line resided.) I have one picture which may be of interest to some of my cousins... a photo of Thomas and his adult sons. Please share my interests with all my cousins. Even though I can't be at the reunion, I would love to hear from any and all of them. Seals does not get to deeply into detail, but it has some unusual anecdotes about early White county settlers and some good Civil War stories. Marna

Susan married S.M. (Morgan) Dobbs on September 17, 1879. Does anyone have any information on these people? Mary
Nathaniel Burdyne was born about 1753in Culpeper County, Virginia to Richard and Catherine Tanner Burdyne. He married Anne Eddins. They had three sons and six daughters. Their children were born in Virginia and possibly North and South Carolina. Nathaniel and Anne and son Samuel and family are found in Smith Coutny, Tennesse. A possible son of Nathaniel and Anne Eddins Burdine, Nathaniel Burdine, age 30-40, in White County, Tennesse, in the 1830 Census with a son under five, a daughter under five, a daughter five to ten years old, and a wife 20-30 years old. Can anyone from this list help me find the descendants of Nathaniel Burdine son of Nathaniel Burdine and Anne Eddins/Edens? Is there anyone who can do any records look-up for this family? Is there a County History book that may have any stories or information on this family? Any and all leads welcome. Thanks. Marna, I too am researching Greens. I have just begun the search, and know that a Mary Green married John Gentry. They had a son Hugh ( probably Hugh Marrion)b. 1796, and m. Mary Lane,Hugh and Mary's son, Samuel, m. Jemima Gist of White Co. I am assuming that Hugh and Mary lived in White Co., also, and that perhaps John Gentry and Mary Green lived there also at some point. I just got these names the other day, so haven't found them yet.(John Gentry and Mary Green). I would appreciate any help you might have on the Greens. Shelley
In the White County "Oldest Marriage Book" there appear many marriages by Thomas Green and William Green. I believe both must have been J. P.'s. The minister's names are proceeded by Rev. and the J.P.'s are followed by Esq. Does anyone have any information on the duties of J.P.'s of the 1840's? I am researching any Greens in White, so please make any responses to the list. I am new to the White County list, so the attached may be a little longer than most requests. I will try and make it short and understandable. For over forty-four years my family has been trying to identify the parents and siblings of our William Preston Anderson that first appeared when he married Rutha Moore in Bossier Parish, La in 1848. The greatest majority of his friends and neighbors came from White Co,TN, our WP also stated on the Census that he came from TN and was born 1824, so we assume came from White Co, also. We are now seeking any information on those around him hoping we can place his parents. His wife Rutha Moore b 1830 White Co,TN d 1888 Sabine Co, TX She was the daughter of Thomas Moore b in SC and Sarah Doyle also b in NC. I believe Sarah's family may have had something to do with Doyle TN. William Preston's brother-in-law was Elijah P Lewis Jr that married Malissa Moore daughter of Thomas Moore and Sarah Doyle. Elijah P Lewis Sr m a Judith Sherrill from SC. They had Mary Polly Malinda Lewis, Runna Lewis, John Lewis and Anna Lewis. Several people have suggested that Anna Lewis married an Anderson, and could be or William Preston's mother. After Elijah P Lewis Sr died, Judith Sherrill Lewis m a Robert G Anderson that was previously m to a Rebecca Fry. We have a great deal of information on Robert G's family but would love to communicate with anyone on any of these families. We have a lot to share. Thanks for your time and Happy Hunting Best regards, William Kent Anderson PointBlank, TX
