    3. Brenda, The following are excerpts from my page on the Districts of Weakley Co. It looks like from this that Good Springs was in District 2 until 1843 and then became District 13 at that time. I believe it is still in District 13 today. My webpage is here; http://www.geocities.com/moedini2001/Districts.html? District 2 (old) Old District 2 (see map) post office in 1860 census is listed as Cedar Hill. In 1870 it is listed as Pierce Station. This implies a name change or shift of post office. By 1850 District 13 was formed from parts of District 1 & 2 as laid out in 1836. District 17 was formed in this area by 1860. In late 1870 the whole of this old District 2 went to Obion County. 1830's, stage stops in this area were Bowers (Wm. G.), Jackson’s Station, and Totten Wells (Benjamin) These last two stops were on the Mills Point (Hickman, KY) Road. Bowers and Davis Mill on the North Fork of the Obion was mentioned as early as 1835 in county court minutes. Road_keepers to the mill were A. W. Gordon, Wm. G. Bowers, Reuben and King Clark, and a Gardner. Mink later became Harris Station; North Edgar became McConnell. Pontotoc was later Fulton,Ky., Jacksonville later South Fulton, Tennessee. Churches; Walnut Grove, United Methodist, established 1838; Chapel Hill, United Methodist, established at least by 1854, Simpson Weaver pastor; Boaz Chapel, Primitive Baptist, on the Tennessee Kentucky state line (Ky. side) was said to have been established in the 1880's by Thomas Boaz, but it is thought to have been the earlier meeting site for several denominations including Methodist and Church of Christ. This was perhaps a brush arbor type meeting ground. ***************************** District 13 The 1860 census lists Dukedom as the post office. Duke A. Beadles was postmaster there in 1833. Black Oak was a post office in this area with Debrum E. Grubbs postmaster in 1855. It is possible that Black Oak was located south of the Obion River and should be in District 4. ix District 13 was formed by 1843 from Parts of District 1 and 2 as laid out in 1836. Benjamin Farmers Bridge on Knob Creek is mentioned in county court records as early as 1835. Willinghams, a post stop, was thought to be in existence in this area in the 1830's. Churches: Good Springs, Cumberland Presbyterian; Pleasant View, Southern Baptist, established 1856, was at one time located at a site different from its present location. -----Original Message----- From: tnweakle-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:tnweakle-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of B Gartside Sent: Wednesday, June 27, 2007 8:31 AM To: tnweakle@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [TNWEAKLE] Districts in Weakley Co. 3. Thanks very much. I'm having a lot of difficulty figuring out where my ancestors lived when it seems that one year they're in one district on the tax list, in a couple of years they're in another, and might not even be in the same district in census. I appreciate the help.
