Demosthenes reportedly married Melissa LUMSDEN, daughter of George T. LUMSDEN and Elizabeth Catherine DERRYBERRY. Melissa was born about 1832 in , , TN, but she was born about 16 years prior to George and Catherine marrying, so who was she? They had the following children. 2 M i. Augusta H. FINCH was born about 1849 in , , TN. 3 M ii. Andrew J. FINCH was born about 1854 in , , TN. 4 F iii. Sarah H. FINCH was born in 1859 in , Weakley, TN. Keeping my fingers crossed here to be sure! I'm distantly related to some of the FINCH family from Henry County, TN but I haven't had a chance to do a lot of research on them. I DO, however, have some info on those from Henry that I'm more than happy to share with you. It wouldn't surprise me if some of my FINCH's came from Weakley, as many of my other family members seemed to keep the roads worn between Weakley and Henry. D C P Finch and Mellisa are in the 1850 Weakley Co., TN 10th Dist. Census with dau. spelled Lusta age 2. household #47. Next door in hh #48 is D. Derryberry Female age 38 with Anderson M age 18, Mary F/age 13 and Sarah age 10. The female Derryberry's first name initial could be something other that D. The children she has are the same as some entries on World Connect listed as LUMSDEN. If this is correct Melissa's maiden name may be Derryberry not Lumsden.
