McCLAIN The Dresden Enterprise April 20, 1917 Unity and Latham Column Last Thursday afternoon about four o'clock, the spirit of Uncle Dave (D. W.) McCLAIN took flight to the God that gave it. He had been sick some two weeks with pneumonia. He was seventy nine years of age, and while he was not one to make any show of his religion, he left the sweet assurance with his bereaved children that he was going to rest, telling them that he did not fear death. His life has been a continual blessing to his neighbors and friends, and though his mortal frame is hidden by the sod, his many acts of kindness will continue to live fresh in memory. His hand was ever extended to help the needy. He leaves four sons and one daughter, a number of grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. His remains were laid to rest Friday at Old Concord beside his loved companion, who preceded him. Funeral services were conducted by Bro. Bun ROSS.
