    1. [TNWEAKLE] New Hope Church Vandalism hearing

    3. I have just returned from the hearing in Dresden on the New Hope Church vandalism case. There was one more that had received a citation that I did not have. This is Nicholas Ryan Lawson, 110 Cleveland St., Martin, TN. In my judgment I believe the case was handled satisfactory to all concerned and is as follows; Judge Moore commented on how serious these offenses were and some had attorneys and those that didn’t he appointed attorneys for them. All 6 of the defendants were ordered to pay $815.00 each to the owners of the building which is the Cemetery Committee, plus the court costs. They were each given 20 hrs of service doing work at the church under the supervision of the Cemetery Committee and a report from the committee about their attitude during this service. The case is under continuance until November 29th at 3 pm when the judge will determine if these conditions are met. Judge Moore also sentenced them with 1 year of probation and stated that if they were back in his court on any other charge during that time they would go to jail. He also commented that at the discretion of the Sherriff’s Dept. they could have been charged with a felony which would be on their record for life. After the hearing some of the committee stated that some had come and apologized to them. Joe Stout No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. 3. I agree with Joe, the punishment seems appropriate.
