Hi Brenda, In 1850 P. R. Simmons is in District 8 of Weakley County, TN. He fits the age and birth place of the person you were looking for. I will send the census image to your private email. SIMMONS, b. 22 Sep 1808 in NC; d. 22 Apr 1890, Weakley Co., TN; listed in burials for Mt. Pelia Cemetery in online TNWeakle archives? He married Mary Eaton BROCK in Rowan Co. NC in 1831. She died in 1862, and in 1869, he married Isabel/Isabella TAYLOR. Where was he between 1831 and 1860? I don't find him in the 1840 or 1850 Weakley Co. TN Census, unless I've just overlooked him, or he's not in the online transcriptions. (I don't have access to census images.) He does appear in the 1860, 1870, and 1880 Weakley Co. TN Census transcriptions in Dist. 8 (same district in which John SIMMONS lived in 1850. Recently, I've received some information that indicates he may have been a cousin of my g grandfather, John SIMMONS, b. 1814, somewhere in Middle TN (moved to Weakley Co. by, or before, 1830. "My" John's father was, according to the new information I've received, John Thomas SIMMONS, b. c1790, N! C (married Amy unknown maiden name). Patrick's father was Samuel SIMMONS, b. c1783, NC, said to have been a brother of John Thomas SIMMONS, b. 1790. I have names of children of Patrick and some of their spouses. The following was published in the Dresden Enterprise, Feb. 28, 1890, Sharon: "Uncle Patrick R. SIMMONS is very feeble from old age" (around 82 at that time) "and rheumatism. He has good nursing at the home of his son - in - law, Rev. J. M. BAXTER" (married his daughter, Sarah Mariah SIMMONS). I'm trying to prove the connection of Patrick's family to my SIMMONS family. Finding out where he was living prior to coming to Weakley Co. would be a great help, and I'm hoping it might be the breakthrough I've been needing in this SIMMONS brick wall for the past 6 years Thanks very much for any information.
