Just another word on the Green Tomato Relish, or ChowChow, as my mother called it. Every year my mother prepared and canned ChowChow. It was soooo good with brown beans and cornbread, fried okra and fresh sliced tomatoes. Alas, her recipe has been lost and I really missed that great ChowChow. However I found an off-the-shelf chowchow that is very, very good. "Renfro's DIXIELAND ChowChow". It tastes almost like what mom made, and takes sooooo much less work.
