Hi Peggy, Thanks so much!! This is, definitely, him. Ages, children, and wife's name match. If birthplaces of children are correct in this census, it looks like he'd still have been in NC c1839. My g grandfather, and I believe gg grandfather, John Thomas SIMMONS, b. c1790, (prob. Thomas SIMMONS in 1830 Weakley Co. TN Census), were in Weakley Co. by, or before 1830.
