Nancy Alexander ******************************* I have the marriage of my great-great grandfather in Rockingham Co., NC. >From information that my grandmother gave me, this Rebecca Knight was "Becky JONES." Note that one of the bondsmen was John JONES. 28 Sep 1822 Rockingham Co. NC marr. bond James BRANN & Rebecca Knight, bondsmen John BRANN, John Jones; wit. Ro. Gallaway, Jr., D.C. James & Rebecca BRANN are found in the 1830 Census of Weakley Co., TN. Because families often moved together, other JONES families of Rockingham Co., NC, may have moved because my Rebecca JONES Knight BRANN had moved to Weakley Co., TN. Some of these JONES men may have been her brothers. Because the JONES name is very common, I have been unable to discover any additional information on this family in NC. ******************** Here's another reference to JONES in NC that I picked up from the TNWEAKLE-L site two years ago. This Henry, who was also called Harrison Jones, was born in NC c. 1805, married 1st Winnifred McKnight, 2nd Margaret Pierce on 28 Jul 1869 in Weakley, and died 12 Jun 1881 in Weakley. Darling's parents, and thus presumably Henry's, were Matthew and Sarah Jones. Matthew was born c. 1770 in NC and died 5 Jan 1831 in Rutherford County, TN. Sarah, whose maiden name may have also been Jones, was born c. 1785 in NC and died 6 Mar 1848. After Matthew's death, Sarah married Cunningham Smith in Rutherford County. A third brother may have been Abel Jones, born 12 Oct 1818 in NC, died 24 Jan 1881 in Weakley. Abel was married to Mary Frances Ward, daughter of Henry J. and Penelope Ward.
