If anyone is researching a SADLER line in Weakley Co., have you come across a marriage record for A. J. "Bud" JONES to Madgie SADLER? I believe the marriage must have taken place in 1920 since in January of that year, A. J. was still living with his parents, James B. "Buck" JONES and wife, Martha "Mattie". By the 1930 census, A. J. was widowed and living in his father's household with daughter, Virginia Ann JONES, b. 1923, according to SSDI. There is a Madgie JONES (1907 - 1921) in transcription of Freeman Cemetery. The birthdate would be correct for "this" Madgie, wife of A. J., but death date wouldn't be correct if she was the mother of Virginia. Also, it would mean that Madgie was married around the age of 13. A Madgie SADLER, dau. of John P. SADLER is listed in his household in the 1910 and 1920 (listed as Maggie) census of Weakley Co. If there are any SADLER researchers on the list, I hope you can help me sort out my little mystery. When did A.J. marry Madgie SADLER and was she the dau. of John P. SADLER? Thanks very much. Brenda
Yes, Brenda, Madgie was the daughter of John P. Sadler and Bettie Brummitt. I do not have the exact marriage date for Andrew Jackson Jones and Madgie--only an estimated 1921 from Census data. John P and Bettie married 15 Nov 1899 in Weakley County.
