    3. Ruth Darden Scott Posted: Friday, October 8, 2010 3:32 pm Mrs. Ruth Darden Scott, 83, of Dresden, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010 at the Weakley County Rehab and Nursing Center, Dresden. Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Houston Patrick and Elder Randy Walker officiating. Burial was in Martin Memorial Garden, Martin. Joe Lewis, Travis Lewis, Kevin Scott, Michael Scott, Andy Tackitt, Matt Scott and James Smith served as pallbearers. Mrs. Scott was born April 20, 1927 in Weakley County, daughter of the late Gilbert and Dulcie Roberts Darden. She was the widow of Hershel Lee Scott. She was a housewife and the oldest member of Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church in both age and membership. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Dean Tackitt, Beverly and Ronnie Lewis, all of Dresden; eight sons and five daughters-in-law, Ronnie Scott, Terry Scott, David and Jeannie Scott, all of Dresden, Larry and Joyce Scott and Keith Scott, all of Gleason, Darrell and Faye Scott of Como, Barry and Brenda Scott of South Fulton, Steve and Teresa Scott of Glasgow, Ky.; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Barbara Rutledge, Ramona and Don Holbrook, all of Lansing, Mich.; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Greenfield with Bro. Edmond Prater officiating. Burial was in Brock's Cemetery, Greenfield. Rachels was born Oct. 2, 1928 in Greenfield, son of the late Dewey and Essie Mayo Rachels. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a self-employed carpenter. Survivors include one daughter, Sherrie Pritchard of Greenfield; one son, Eddie Rachels of Memphis; two sisters, Peggy Minyard and Janice Rachels, both of Greenfield; one brother, Hal Rachels of Greenfield and two grandchildren, Dustin Pritchard and Clint Pritchard, both of Greenfield. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Old Fulton Road Church of Christ with Bro. Nathaniel Holmes, Bro. Joe Beal and Bro. Garlin White officiating. Burial will be in Parham Cemetery, Martin with Murphy Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until one hour prior to services. Brothers of the Old Fulton Road Church of Christ will serve as pallbearers. Pope was born Nov. 25, 1935 in Covington, daughter of the late George and Sadie Reed Tipton. She was a designer at Murphy Florist for more than 44 years and a member of Old Fulton Road Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband, Henry H. Pope of Martin; one brother, Willie Tipton of San Antonio, TX and three sisters, Sarah Bell Tipton of South Bend, Ind., Annie Bell Jones of Tiptonville and Rebecca Tipton of South Fulton. Services were held at 11 a.m. today at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Martin with Rev. Bruce McCaleb and Rev. Wayne Perkins officiating. Burial was in Public Wells Cemetery in Martin with Murphy Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Gerald Merritt, Larry Fowler, Roger Hill, Kenneth Moore, Robert Moore and David Murphy served as pallbearers. Gardner was born April 5, 1939 in Weakley County, son of the late Russell and Queen Moore Gardner. He was the widower of Shirley Dilday Garner. He formerly worked at Bay-Bee Shoe Co., Martin Brothers Timber and Container Corp and Wormser Manufacturing Co and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
