I believe Betty's grandmother was Mary Emily Lockridge who married Robert Hern Grissom in 1891 - their children were Marshall Stephen, Mary Lucille, James William and Robbie Harvey.   Mary Emily Lockridge's father was Marshall Stone Lockridge, my 2nd great grandfather. Marshall Stone was married to Mary Benson Lockridge who helped a young Civil War soldier (Union)  by wrapping him in a quilt so he could get through Confederate lines. His name was John Bauer.   I have the info on the Civil War battle fought at the Lockridge Mill (thank you Joe Stout!!)  and a picture of the quilt.   I recently found an article by the great grandson of the young soldier, John Bauer,  telling the story of the Bauer family meeting Betty Grissom who's great grandmother was Mary Benson.
