    3. Gene Smoot Posted: Wednesday, September 15, 2010 4:07 pm Gene Smoot, 92, of Dukedom, died Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010 at his residence. Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hornbeak Funeral Home Chapel, Fulton, Ky. with Rev. Rusty Robinson officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Dukedom. Smoot was born Dec. 20, 1917 in Hickman County, Ky., daughter of the late John Thomas and Vivian Elliott Smoot. She was a retired clerk for the former Andrews Jewelry Company in Fulton for 35 years and attended First Christian Church of Fulton. Survivors include one niece and one nephew. Mitchell Posted: Wednesday, September 15, 2010 4:05 pm Bobby C. Mitchell, 76, of Martin, died Friday, Sept. 10, 2010 at his residence. Visitation and celebration of life with the family will be held between 11 a.m.-1 p.m. today at Murphy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Blake officiating. Burial will be private for family members only. Mitchell was born May 31, 1934 in Gibson County, son of the late Milburn F. and Ora Evelyn Mullins Mitchell. He attended Bradford High School, and was retired from the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in Union City. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Nina Kay Thomas Mitchell of Martin; two sons, Terry Mitchell of Martin and Barry Mitchell of Florida; two stepsons, Christopher Puckett of South Fulton and Paul Puckett of Dukedom; one daughter, Janet Mitchell Ashley of Atwood; one stepdaughter, Kathy Collins of Paris; two brothers, Paul Mitchell of Martin and Eddie Mitchell of Milan; one sister, Elizabeth Singleton of Bradford; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two wives, Brenda Stafford Mitchell and Dorothy Crouch Mitchell. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Alamo Cemetery with Bro. Bill Stevenson officiating and Gardner Funeral Home of Sharon in charge of the arrangements. Jackson was born April 23, 1926 in Weakley County. He was a veteran of the Tennessee National Guard and an auto body technician. Survivors include two sons, David Jackson of Sharon and Dennis Jackson of Kansas City, Mo.; and one grandson, Nicholas Jackson of Millington. wcp 9/14/10 Laura Francis Bacon Posted: Wednesday, September 15, 2010 3:55 pm Laura Francis Bacon, 60, of Martin, died on Sept. 10, 2010 in Jackson. She was born on Aug. 21, 1950, in Akron, Ohio to the late Richard Dean and Joyce Alice Bacon. Laura is survived by a brother, Scott Bacon of Hampden, Mass.
