I found a death record in Marshall Co., KY 1874 on the above site....I want to learn who the informant was for this deceased family member? How do I do this? Where did ancestry.com get those records in the first place? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks In Advance, Cheryl
If it is a death record, it is a public record, and public records are, well--public. Anyone can get them and post them anywhere, including commercial sites like Ancestry.com. The other possibility is contribution by an individual. Ancestry hosts lots of discussion boards akin to what the list does here, and people are encouraged to add their records for the benefit of others. For those who are heavy users (and Ancestry) it is a great deal. If the data was supplied by a subscriber, there should be contact information attached either to the record or submitter information. You may have to click around to find it, but check there first. Richard.
