    3. Folks, just look what has transpired because someone asked about Indian heritage on our great list! Many thanks to all who have replied to my Finch posting. It will take a while to digest it all. PJ, I know you must be canning up a storm! We've done some canning, froze 17 gallons of tomato juice and a good bit of corn, beans, peas and "okry". I love my garden! 3. Yes Dave, the Indian was part of it but if you remember I asked Sunday for folks to send info........then I disappeared.......in less than a weeks time......I lost my aunt, a close friend, 56 years old, and my brother in law.......we have been in Arkansas until last night......this has been tough.......and then today while I was canning tomatoes, I thought of 46 years ago today in this very house, August 13, 1964.......my Mama and I were canning tomatoes all day long and at 6 PM tonight my Mama JONES (Lucy Caroline McCLAIN JONES) died right here in this house.......well I lost it and had a good cry for all our loved ones gone.......the chair she died in sits in my bedroom today, a wicker rocker.......as the old saying goes "I would not take a farm in Georgia for that rocker"..... Yes Dave, I have done my share of canning this year also made pictures to put in the book I am writing about old time stuff like canning.......this book is meant to be left to teach the younger ones how to can.........it is a dying art........pj > Folks, just look what has transpired because someone asked about Indian > heritage on our great list! > Many thanks to all who have replied to my Finch posting. 1. Re: [TNWEAKLE] COOK
    2. pj, Although I do think there is a connection to this family, this generation and the John and Margaret (Ditterline) Cook family is not it exactly. All the children were born too early to be my John W. and too late to have children in the target year if 1831/32. Name patterns of this family and descendants would seem to indicate a connection...not to mention the location and similar family businesses. The siblings I have for this John Cook b. 1792 are a possible connection, but I have no proof of any siblings here. I would like to see descendants for any of the following Cooks that are "possible" siblings found in the Weakley Co., area.: 1. Lewis Cook b. 1800 South Carolina 1860 Census citation: age 60, Graves Co., Kentucky, Mayfield PO, Page 171, line 36, HH 1225, b. South Carolina. 2. James Cook b. abt 1801 South Carolina married Elizabeth unk 3. William Cook b. 1806 married Millie Patillo Howard 4. Hudson Cook b. 1806 South Carolina married Kizzare Young So far this family is the best possible connection for my Cooks, but no proof of who was in this family pre 1850. Any help expanding what I have on this family would be appreciated. I have the following on Hudson Cook: 1840 Graves Co., KY census - Hudson as head of household and Males - 3 (ages 5-10) 1 (ages 20-30) and 1 (age 30-40). Females - 1 (age 0-5) 1 (age of 20-30). 1850 Graves Co., KY census - Hudson, and his son James listed as farmers. Hudson and Kezzire's children are: James M. 1834, Jesse W. 1835, Nancy 1839, Martha 1842, Sarah 1845, Eliza 1847 and Elizabeth 1849. Notes: Hudson is 44 yrs of age and Kezzire is 39 yrs of age. According to the 1840 census, an older unknown son is not mentioned in the 1850 census. Living next door to Hudson and family is J.W. Cook 19, wife, Mary 21, and son Henry. Could this be their older son? If it is then this is my connection as J. W. and Mary Cook are my ancestors. 1860 Graves County, KY census - Kezzire, 50 as head of household and living with her are two daughters, Sarah age 14, and Nancy Sneed, age 21, a son, Jesse W. Cook and his wife Nancy and their two children, Hudson E. and John. They lived next door to Parker & Drown. Notes: Hudson Cook died 29 May 1856 of consumption. James and wife, Martha Moore are not mentioned in this census. Jesse and wife are living with Kezzire. Martha is not mentioned, did she die? did she marry? Eliza and Eliz are not mentioned either. Eliza would have been 13yrs of age and Eliz 10 yrs of age. They probably died before the 1860 census was taken. 1870 Graves Co., KY census - Kezzire(Keziah) as head of household, age 65 and her daughter Nancy age 30 living with her. Notes: Kezzire has gained 5 yrs in age. Nancy is still at home. James and wife, Martha Moore Cook are back in Graves Co., KY. Sarah is not mentioned in this census. She would be 24yrs of age. Did she marry? Who ? 1880 Graves County census shows Kezzire, 77, and her grandaughter, Mary Simpson, 6 yrs of age living with her. Note: Which of Hudson and Kezzire's daughters married a Simpson? Kezzire has a 6 yr old gr granddaughter named Mary Simpson. Could Mary have been at Kezzire's home the day of the census and got counted twice? Kezzire has gained two more years in age. Thank You, Dan Cook <<Here is another 1. JOHN1 COOK was born 04 Dec 1792, and died 15 Sep 1830 in Weakley County, Tennessee. He married MARGARET DITTERLINE. She was born 19 Jan 1792, and died 14 Jul 1884 in Weakley County, Tennessee. Children of JOHN COOK and MARGARET DITTERLINE are: i. JANE2 COOK, b. 1814; d. 27 Jul 1878; m. JAMES WESLEY SIMS; b. 1799; d. 1878. ii. WILLIAM DITTERLINE COOK, b. 21 Aug 1815; d. 18 Nov 1882. iii. JOHN WESLEY COOK, b. 10 Sep 1818; d. 07 Sep 1888. iv.
