    1. [TNWEAKLE] Green Tomato Relish
    2. pj Thompson
    3. Well Joe, I am going to attempt to tell you how I do it.........tis my favorite........just make one batch at a time to start with and see if it's to your liking/taste, if not I will tell you other ways..........how's that...... PJ's Green Tomato Relish or Chow Chow 1/2 gallon peeled and chopped green tomatoes (now I cut mine in small pieces, or you can chop them) 6 to 8 onions depending on size now I use sweet Banana Peppers instead of Bell Pepper because Bell's hurt my stomach If using Bell......about 10 (if you want it to have a little color use about 3 or 4 Red Bell Peppers in it.......be sure your onions and peppers are chopped up...........I use about 3 double hand fulls of Sweet Banana Peppers (you will be able to judge) 3 quarts finely chopped cabbage 1/4 to a 1/3 pickling salt (I just use canning salt) 6 to 8 Cups vinegar (I use white cider vinegar) 3 Table spoons prepared mustard 2 1/12 to 3 cups sugar 2 Table spoons mustard seed 1 to 2 Table spoon pickling spices Experiment with this.......you can add chopped celery, a little lime or lemon juice, I prefer Lime.......you even use a couple of hot peppers if you want some heat to it......... I never do this because I don't like the spices in mine but you can use allspice, cinnamon, ginger, turmeric or whatever your taste buds like....... Now I also use fresh garlic peeled and chopped........I use a little garlic salt and pepper in my batches also...........I do everything to taste..........if I like it then I make it, if I don't then I add til I do.......... I use a food processor for chopping but this makes your stuff really small so makes just use a chopper .......after chopping, grinning or whatever you do...........mix all together, put your salt all over the top, cover and let stand at least 20 minutes.....Drain or squeeze out the liquid...........then add your remaining items, mix well..........put in a large pot.........cook it down to what ever stage you prefer........cook at least 30 minutes but I cook mine longer..........put in your scalded jars and seal........... Now if anyone needs help, I will try to explain better............the best way to cook for me is by taste and sight..........pj > I'm not sure which one you were discussing a few months ago. 2. Martha Smith
    3. THE DRESDEN ENTERPRISE May 30, 1947 Obituary Alvin Blaine REAVIS was born February 2, 1885, passed to the eternal home May 18, 1947, after much suffering of asthma. He obeyed the gospel in early life, under the preaching of A. O. COLLEY and remained a faithful Christian until death. He was teacher at Antoch Church of Christ, his home congregation, where he had been an evangelistic singer, in Tennessee and other states, having possessed a musical talent, and was never happier than when singing the Gospel songs. He loved to study the Bible as Paul instructed Timothy to show himself approved unto God a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. A few days before he passed away he recited most all of the fourth chapter of Second Timothy, placing emphasis on 6-8. He leaves to mourn his passing two brothers, Horace and Leland REAVIS, and two sisters, Mrs. M. V. WELCH, and Mrs. R. C. UNDERWOOD, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at West Union by Brethren E. H. SMITH, of Murray, and Edward HARPER, of Dresden, burial in nearby cemetery, with Bowlin & Riggs directing. 1. [TNWEAKLE] Birth Registration Law???
    2. Friday June 3, 1881 DRESDEN DEMOCRAT No. 1 The below was the first birth register under the new law: Born April 19, 1881, Cadis Finis ADAMS, male, white, Father James Jeptha ADAMS, Occupation farmer, Mother Mary Ella ADAMS, Nativity Weakley County, Tenn. in the 7th district, J. K. STEPHENS, attending physician. Saw this on the Weakley Website in the newspaper transcriptions done by Martha Smith. My question: Was this new law for the state, county, or city? Does anyone know if these records still exist, and if so, where they might be found? Sounds like a gold mine to me. :-) Jewel ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

    1. [TNWEAKLE] Obituary Lookup-MATHENY
    2. Hi Martha, I would really appreciate a look up for William E. MATHENY who died about December 24, 1935. They lived in District 12 in 1930. I have tried but been unable to find a death certificate for him in Tennessee. I can only think that the name was butchered in some way or that he died somewhere else. Thanks so much for all the help you provide to the folks on this list. Peggy M. T. ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
