Appreciate your offer, she does not seem to be on the 1850 or 1860 Weakley Co Census, but am trying to see if she was on the 1879 census. Wm Muran Parham Reavis and his wife Louisa, had a daughter Lacey E. born ca1856, have wondered if she might be the one, but don't think so, although have not found any of them aft the 1880 census, with the possible exception of their son John W. who may have married in 1873 Saline co., Arkansas; but not verified this either. Have been contacted by several people willing to help from your list, that is gratifying. I just sent another email to the list, in response to one. I found the lookup I think elsewhere, a Danielle, think the name was. I have heard frm Lee Cate, but she said nothing about the obituary, but my she has a load of files, and provides them so freely, which she did for me. Perhaps Martha Smith, will see this and look for the obituary for Elizabeth/ Bettie Reavis White, who died March 8, 1917, would be most grateful if she can, and would be glad to pay her for this service. Have seen some of her obits listed. She provides a wonderful service. Sometimes the obituary has the information needed to make a connection. Currently trying to locate Elizabeth/Bettie b1855 on the 1870 census. Her husband was there in Weakley for sure on the 1860 census, age 8, son of Joshua A. and Priscilla White, I believe. Might also mention here, that I found data on Louisa White who married Wm. Muran P. Reavis; she was born 1833 in Wake Co NC, which is where the Reavis and Parham families came from who settled in Weakley Co.. Her father was John Wortham White, mother Lacey Fowler d1835), her Aunt Louisa Fowler was John's second wife. But I still have not found WMPR or Louisa aft the 1880 census. The Weakley co list is very helpful in respect to queries, I for one, certainly appreciate the input. The addy listed for the lookups, no longer available. I am seeking obituary of Elizabeth/Bettie Reavis White, she died March 8, 1917 in Weakley county, Tn. Buried at Mt Zion Cemetery, along with husband Cullen Debrough White. Hoping the obituary will contain names of her parents. Will the library look this up for me? If so, can you provide address. Thank you Barbara Lucas ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
Cullen Debrough WHITE married Bettie ( Elizabeth) REAVIS , January 1874, in Weakley Co. They had several children: Lena M. bca1874, Lon B. bca1880, Julia B. ca1883, and Cullen D. 1891. Bettie/Elizabeth (b1855) died March 1917, and Cullen (b1852) died March 1926, both are buried at the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Who were Bettie/Elizabeth's parents? She does not seem to come from the line of John Hanner Reavis, who was one of earliest settlers in Weakley co., arriving ca1825. Something you don't see every day - an old Potato Barn - outside of Sharon, TN http://www.rootsweb.com/%7Etnweakle/Farm_Outbuildings.htm MaryCarol
I took Winifred's name info from some COOK family data - but Grace has kindly given me correction - she was Winifred McAllister ALLEN JENKINS - dau of Samuel ALLEN & Mary McALLISTER - easy to mix them up if not your direct family. Also dau Eliza JENKINS m. Alexander Doak McKEEN. The Confederate Soldier didn't make sense to me either - removing it unless someone tells me differently. Hubby's rain gage says we had over 2 inches of rain here in Southern Weakley yesterday aftenoon/evening. Yeah! didn't have to water plants! MaryCarol
Thanks, Mary Carol, for posting the Jenkins family cemetery photos. John and Winnifred Jenkins were my 4th great grandparents.

A man born in 1805 would not normally serve in the Civil War. I do know of a blacksmith from Virginia that served at age 65 in an elite unit because he was supposedly the best at shoeing horses, making steel replacement parts and just general fixun stuff. ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

The Dresden Enterprise November 27, 1964 Services For Mrs. Loyd REAVIS, Sr. Mrs, Marguerite Callen REAVIS passed away Thursday morning at the Obion County General Hospital on Union City. Mrs. REAVIS suffered a heart attack at her home shortly after breakfast and was rushed to the hospital. Services were at 2 Friday afternoon at the Cumberand Presbyterian church by John E. GARDNER of Memphis, a former pastor, and Rev. Dale M SHELTON. Burial was in Sunset cemetery with Bowlin Funeral Home in charge. Mrs. REAVIS, the widow of Loyd REAVIS, Sr., was born and reared in Selma, Alabama and came to Dresden after her marriage more than forty years ago. She was an active member of the Cumberland Presbyterian church and Lottie Clement Missionary Auxiliary. In years past she was active in Parent Teachers Association, the Legon Auxiliary and other civic affairs. She was a lady possessing talents, personality and beauty that gave her many friends. She leaves one son, Loyd REAVIS, Jr., of Dresden, three grandchildren, Martha Lee, Carol and Tom REAVIS, all of Dresden; one brother, A. R. CALLEN, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Jack POWELL, A. J. DUNLAP, Bill BROOKS, Grooms HERRON, W. P. PARKS and Jacob FREEMAN served as pallbearers.
The Dresden Enterprise May 10, 1946 Beloved Lady Passes After Brief Illness Rites For Mrs. Bennie REAVIS Held Tuesday at Local Church of Christ Esteem In Which She Was Held Manifested By Large Number At Funeral The esteem in which Mrs. Bennie REAVIS, wife of E. T. REAVIS, was held in this community was manifested by the very large number attending her funeral at the Church of Christ and the wonderful array of floral offerings, each a silent testimony of Mrs. REAVIS' wide spread popularity. Mrs. REAVIS was stricken Friday, last week, followed by pneumonia, and passed away at the Martin hospital Monday afternoon. She and E. T. REAVIS were united in holy wedlock 50 years ago last January. Two children were born from this union, Loyd, who with his father, survives, and a daughter who died in infancy. She was the daughter of the late Tom LOYD, and sister of Mrs. H. F. CHANDLER, the latter being the last survivor of the LOYD family. Funeral services were held by her pastor, T. E. CHOATE, and the Rev. Miss Lettie CLEMENT in the presence of an exceptionally large concourse of relatives and friends. Interment was in Sunset cemetery, withBowlin and Riggs directing. Mrs. REAVIS was born and reared in Dresden. She was one of the city's most deservedly popular women. It has been publicly stated that she and Mr. REAVIS were Dresden's most devoted couple. She was, in truth, a dear, good woman and deeeply consecrated. The entire community joins us in sympathy for the bereaved. As a tribute of respect, all business houses closed for the funeral hour.
